tan color, thin as four sheets of paper, actually measures 3/4 by 1 inch

It might be an IC regulator to maintain a specific voltage or to monitor the charging current.

Does it look like a flat pack with a lot of leads coming out on all 4 sides or does it just have a few on one edge and a flat thermal sink on the opposite edge?
