I have a prescription and all the sources to get it. And yes, I know it's illegal, but I have blood phobia, I'm not going to do it.

Roaccutane is an important but potentially very hazardous drug. Not even your GP can prescribe in in UK for that reason. It is only available though specialist dermatologists. Your suggestion is thus foolish in the extreme, which you knew already. You simply posted in on Answers in the hope that perhaps one, equally foolish person, would say it was OK, this acting as your justification for your unwise course in your own mind..

I'm really sorry to seem to attack you too, but you'd be an absolute idiot if you didn't follow the exact Doctor's advice. Roaccutane is the most powerful skin drug out there and for good reasons there are really strict guidelines to follow as there are so many possible adverse side-effects, however rare, including depression, and suicide. I have been a research scientist and am now a medical student so I would like to think that I do know something about drugs!

I totally empathise with your fear of blood tests but have you tried any techniques to try and get over this - relaxation techniques, hypnotherapy? Phlebotomists are really good (I am a qualified one!) and if you explain how nervous you are then maybe they will have some tips or apply some local anaethestic. Surely it's worth a try at least.

You can't. They modified the process of getting Accutane a couple years ago. You now have to be enrolled in a program called iPledge which you can only do through a doctor. Even if you went to the pharmacist with a prescription they would not fill it since they check every person's status in the program beforehand. Due to your lack of seeing a dermatologist, being enrolled in the program, and not having a blood test, you cannot get the prescription at all. And personally, it's incredibly stupid to even consider taking the drug without any guidance from a doctor. There are serious side effects that can only be determined by the monthly blood tests and monthly doctor check ups. If it's really worth it to you, you should just suck it up.

First, you cannot legally get this drug without a prescription.....there are laws you know, and they are in place for a good reason.
Second, the baseline and follow up blood tests are to measure liver function, accutane is very hard on the liver, has been known to cause liver failure, and you cannot live without your liver.
What can happen? YOU CAN DIE!!
Don't be so stupid, see a doctor.

accutane is really hard on your body and the blood tests are necessary to make sure your organs, the liver in particular, are functioning normally. but if you want to risk your life b/c youre scared of a little needle, go ahead. its not a smart idea
