I have an Abscess (tissue that gets infected and forms a pocket/sac with pus in it), I went to 4 different doctors. They prescribed me ANTIBIOTICS...today I went to the OB-GYN...this Doctor said they didn't prescribe me the right Antibiotics...so...he swabbed the abscess to test out what bacteria was causing this...He said that with the right Antibiotics it will go away...this Abscess is not deep...and its in the worst area possible...Oh yeah...he said no surgery is required...I had it drained once but its still here to stay..arr...

Has anyone had this problem?? And, does Antibiotics really make it go away?

From your description, it sounds like you are talking about a bartholin's cyst.

Yes, many females, though I am not one of them, have had this problem. Your doctor was very wise to culture (swab) the abscess. This will reveal the exact bacteria that is causing the problem and, once the exact bacteria is known, it is easier to prescribe the right antibiotic to take care of the problem. Yes, antibiotics can make it go away if they are the right antibiotics.

If the abscess keeps coming back, your doctor may recommend having the bartholin's gland removed but this is rare and almost never has to be done.
