I find them to be beggar words. Do not like to use them. I hate it when people expect me to say it. And I don't, they beg or plead/get hostile like for the word. WHY?

Blossom S, get over yourself! I never demand anything in my entire life. I bet you don't use the other curse words, cause you don't believe in them.

Eat your words Blossom, you won't win the best answer award! My world is not as you say it is. Shame on you!

Wow these comments are rude. Sheesh I agree halfway. I'm a vey polite person and people often take it as being a brown noser which I'm not. So at the end of the day I always say have a nice day no matter who is it [bus driver, co worker, teacher, etc.] So I tend to say please to. I think that over the years people have lost their people skills and forgetten common manners. And so often it seems as if those please isn't necessary. However I think sorry is because sorry is to show that you feel bad or guilty for a mistake that you've done. So if you don't say sorry then that is rude however please and thank you can often be disregarded. And I agree sometimes it can be quite annoying when someone is there waiting for a single word. They should honestly respect your wishes and move on. =]

How disturbing that "sorry" doesn't mean a thing to you. You've completely lost your sense of right and wrong, and no longer care that you've hurt someone else?

How sad that "please" doesn't mean a thing to you. Has your sense of entitlement grown so strong that you feel it's OK to DEMAND, rather than ASK for things?

Does "thank you" also mean nothing to you? It would be depressing beyond words indeed if you have totally lost the ability to feel gratitude and the desire to express it.

Obviously, no one can force you to feel gratitude, remorse, or deference -- but what a sad, empty life you must lead without these feelings.

I do not feel the same way. It is about being polite and you don't see a whole lot of that these days. I have taught my children to say please and thank you because i want them to show respect towards others. They are not beggar words at all. I respect someone more when they use those words with me than if they did not.

I find it rude of people say it impatiently, don't make eye contact, have a careless or irritated tone, say it constantly, rush off after saying it, or something like that.

Examples: *bumps into me* "sorry" *walks off*
or ths one: "Could you do my homework, pleeeease?"

But if they are sincere those words are some of the best words in the dictionary!

I find it more offensive that you don't care to be respectful in your daily interactions. We are taught to learn the proper social graces. Please, thank you, excuse me, and sorry are words that involve good manners. If you actually choose not to be respectful in social situations, then I would expect that others will treat you with distain. Don't expect otherwise.

Wow, what a lousy upbringing you had! It's common courtesy to use words like "please".

You'll suffer greatly in your career if you can't be bothered to use these words.

Because it's rude not to.

Be humble, and learn when to say
please, and sorry and mean it.

This will help you in life.

because it is the polite thing to do you rude ***. When you do something that offends someone you should be sorry and when you want something you should ask politely. Didnt your momma teach you any manners?
