It's ok not to wear black, especially if you are a young person.

You should wear a darker, subdued color, maybe navy, plum, or olive green. Try to avoid any shade of red though, some people might have a problem with red.

Don't wear anything that can be seen as sexy or frivolous. No low necklines, high skirts, sexy high heels, or extra frills and ruffles. Keep it simple.

Don't wear anything that is too informal, like jeans, sneakers, or a t-shirt.

If you have any kind of dark suit jacket, wear that with a simple tank top, skirt or trousers, with dark shoes and purse. You could also wear a dress if you have a nice one that is sort of conservative and not too frilly or anything. You can wear a watch and earrings, but no flashy jewelry. Just think of being dressed "business casual" and you will probably get it right.

As long as you wear someting conservative it should be okay. Just make sure that you aren't wearing something skimpy or such that makes you look like you're ready for a party.

Conservative and neutral are the things to remember. If the green shirt is dark or at least not BRIGHT or pastel you should be okay. Dressing all in black is not a requirement especially if you are there for your bf and not in mourning yourself.

It's nice that you want to be there to support your bf.

If you don't have black, wear a dark color -- but you MUST look dressy, conservative, and respectful for the seriousness of the occasion. If you're not going to wear black, I would increase the formality of the outfit -- wear a suit, a dress that would be appropriate for church or temple, or at least a skirt and nice blouse.

Yes. Hardly anyone wears black to a funeral anymore.

Any darker, subdued color is fine. I have been to many funeral recently and many are much more casual than they used to be. Depends on the family, some are very formal, but even if you wear more casual clothes, stick to darker colors. I wore a brown dressy top and khaki colored pants to my father's funeral. Just don't wear red!

definite. that's beside the point. Velvet isn't a mourning fabric. notwithstanding we don't stay below Victorian stringencies bearing directly to mourning, e nonetheless stay below first rate and good ones. Velvet is for night positioned on and not for funerals. you will offend people in case you place in this. positioned on a lain black gown or black skirt, white shirt and black sweater or adventure-coat. i'm sorry to your loss.

Depends how formal the event is. A most formal somber event would require black. Look how much of a boob cheney looks in this picture.

However if it's just a family thing, dark blue or green would suffice, just not red.

You can wear other dark colors,
but pants?
I'm a female, and I would never wear
pants to Church, or a funeral.
Don't you have a skirt, or a dress?
Oh well.

That's fine...nothing short, low-cut, disrespectful though.
Act like you'd want someone to act if they were attending your grandmother's funeral.
Good luck.

Its fine not to wear black. What you said sounds fine. Just nothing too low cut. And nothing too "loud".
