i am a 25 year-old girl who works with predominantly men in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. i also like to dress nicely (not in suits) but modestly. i dont usually just bust out a convo with anybody at work but it's been difficult to make friends there. the best prospects seemed to be the 2 IT men in the early 30s and 40s. i think one might be married and i dont assume either mighht be interested in me, but have tried to be friendly with one of them. he seems to like me and has always checked me out. he is cute and i do want to get to know him but he is too old nd we work together, so it's kind of more of a friendly thing. i feel like since that has happened, the people at work assume i am hitting on him or think i am so great and i dont. in fact, he just seemed like someone i could be cool with. work has been hard because it's such a conservative environment. there were days id go home crying because people were not nice to me. i just wanted someone i could talk with occasionally???

you said you wanted to make friends with someone in a "predominately" male work place. start trying to be friends with some of the few women. you'll get alot further that way. your young, you don't understand office politics yet, if you did, you'd go in, do your job and know that eventually things will come around. make friends at the health club or wherever.

Ouch someone doesn't have many friends, not even yourself. Its on you cat, go for it, just remember again, and again, its important!!! SO IMPORTANT!!! HE is to OLD and you WORK with HIM, so please just keep it friendly...... also be carful, you really need a good friend around, and theres no telling how your emotions are going to go, if he DOES start being more of a friend. People don't typically make it to your age without have better personal friendships, so that kind of scares me on your abilities to make the right descions her, but I digress, it could be as simple as you just moved, just trying to be compassionate, keep it smart, Kat!
