I have HD cable, a TV that supports HD, and a DVD player that also records. My problem is I don't know how to connect the DVD player to the whole set up. I'm usually not this bad at stuff in this field, but the whole HD part has thrown me way off and I have no clue what to do. I bought a DVI cable because a Geek Squad member recommended I connect it from the cable box to the TV, then take the red and white inputs on my cable and put them on my DVD player. I did that and I'm stumped, it's just not working. HELP!!

Connect the set-top to the TV via DVI.

Connect composite or s/video or RF from set-top to DVD-R, hopefully the set-top can enable both outputs at the same time. RF from the set-top out will carry both video and audio to the DVR so you can use audio out to connect it t the TV.

If the set-top has only one audio output, connect it to the DVD-R and then audio-out from DVD to TV (but the DVD-R needs to be on...)
