You can just dye it, but it won't show up as well or stay as long as it would if it were bleached.
Bleaching opens up the hair follicle and holds the dye better.
But, if you really don't want to do that then just make sure to use vaseline on your neckline and wear gloves. Manic Panic stains worse than any permanent hair color out there...

You definitely need to bleach streaks in your hair first to dye them blue green or purple. It will barely show up otherwise. And youll need to redye it every 2 weeks or so, because those colors fade to a muddy gray or greenish gray very quickly. Sorry but bleach is the only way : (

Most semi-perm deposit colors like Manic Panic require bleach first. You could avoid bleach and try using a red color, that might look kinda like henna on your hair :)

i have dark brown hair and anytime I want to put in highlights in my hair, no matter what the color, my stylist always bleaches the streaks first then applies the color. Especially if you really want to see them. That said, a friend of mine in high school ages ago had dyed her hair raven black and then did got bored of the black and did eggplant purple right over it. It looked black when she was inside, but in the light it had a distinct purple cast to is.

So it just depends on how visible you want the blue. no chemical process bleach or coloring is good for your hair.

The problem with Manic panic is that it is a veggie dye, so when you pre lighten your hair it will never wash out. It will fade away but it will never ever completely come out of your hair. any of those crazy colors you have to prelighten your hair in order for the color to come out brilliant. Why don't you just get color hair extensions. It's less permanent and won't damage your hair.

Everyone's version of Chestnut is different. Basiacally, the darker your hair, the less the pigment (no matter if you go blue or purple) will show. You can hi-lite just a few shades lighter, rather than going yellowish-white. It will still show up on darker blonde, too.

Hi there, I just laugh about my past 3 years of panic now. I was not able to go anywhere without carrying xanax. Fear of having another attack was the most important subject of my days. When i first found joe barry's web site i started to cry because of my happiness.
