How many different languages do you wish the hospital to accommodate? Are the non English speaking persons footing the bill? How many of even the English speaking persons fully comprehend what they are being told? From the questions I've come back with you'd come to the correct conclution my answer is NO.

Our medical system is near bankrupcy already. Even under universal health care the common person will never get the service your congressman will. They have a better health & retirement plan than you and I will ever have. The beurocrats that run the universal health plan will also have better plans or at least better connection to get better care than us common people. Is this just - No - It IS what it IS. Doesn't matter that Clinton asks what IS the definition of "IS".

Yes, I mean that there might be foreign visitors that might check into the hospitals. Plus also there also some locals who might have problems on understanding English, I mean there might be some old German immigrants that might be still find it hard to understand English.

Nevertheless, it's important for hospitals to be capable of the languages speaken by the surrounding people.

I mean that if the hospital can only speak and understand Hebrew while the people surrounding it can only speak and understand English, that will be kind of troublesome.

Of course, an International class Hospital definetly need to have translators for its multinational patients.

While Hospitals that are frequently visited by people from embassies and consulates definetly will have translators in the languages spoken by the embassies and the consulates.

They already are required by law to do so. And it's not all a bad thing. Not all tourists speak English, or Spanish. One must think of them too.

Edit: So I am to understand that you don't believe that tourists from other countries deserve proper care? Or are you griping about illegals, and Mexicans out of Mexico? Because your question is too generalized then isn't it?

Other countries don't, so why should we? The United States is the only country in the world that will cater to people who do not speak the language of the land.

In NY, it is the law. Patients who do not speak English are given an interpreter supplied by the hospital. They can refuse the hospital interpreter and use a family member or friend.

Yes I do. As our nation continues to grow, there are many other cultures that are becoming more important in society. Hospitals provide one of the most critical functions. Quick response times are needed. A translator on staff will cut down the amount of time needed to find out what is wrong.

Many of the doctors speak enough Spanish to help them diagnose the problem. At least that is what my brother in law does.
