i think its probly Keratosis pilaris is a common skin disorder in which a protein found in the skin called keratin forms hard plugs within the hair follicles (tiny pockets beneath the skin from which hair grows).

In the normal development of skin, cells produce keratin, which forms the upper layers of the skin, nails and hair. The cells and keratin eventually move toward the outermost layer of the skin (called the stratum corneum) and then die and flake away

Since we don't have a picture of the bumps or don't know how numerous they are I don't think anyone is going to be able to give you an exact answer, but they might be the same thing I had when I was growing up. I had tiny skin color bumps on my arms and also on each side of my face. I was about 8 when they first showed up and they are finally almost gone now that I am 20 (the ones on my arms actually went away a couple years earlier). I went to a dermatologist when I was about 13 and he told me and my mom that it was caused by dry skin. He gave me an extra strength lotion that did no good for the bumps and actually made my skin break out. I still think he didn't know what he was talking about but he said by the time I was 21 I shouldn't have the bumps anymore and he was right about that... I know there were several friends of mine in high school who had the same thing going on. I don't know if this is what your daughter has, but if they aren't bothering her I wouldn't worry about them too much. You might take her to a dermatologist just to get it checked out because it may be something that has a simple solution.

Edit: Definitely sounds like Keratosis Pilaris (what I was describing above). I'm glad I finally have a name for it! :-)

Keratosis Pilaris sounds similar to what you described. It is a common normal occurrence due to skin cells gathering around the hair follicle. They look like goose bumps but do not go away. It is very common and usually due to dry skin, inheritance, or vitamin A deficiency. Treatment depends on the cause. Consult M.D. if you think it is vitamin related. Most likely though, it is dry skin. Use a gentle loofah and organic moisturizer. Good Luck!

You really need to read "Banish My Bumps" by Angela Steinberg (also available in electronic format here: http://www.banishbumps.com ). It's about how to permanently cure your Keratosis Pilaris naturally. I was able to clear my skin in only 7 days after reading this.

Stop paying paying each month good money on creams. This is exactly what the pharmaceutical industry wants you to do! They want to milk money from you each month.

All the women in my family have something like that. I'm not sure if its dry skin or maybe the water.
