Actually, the "ME" generation started in the 80's and just catapulted from there. Somehow people got the idea that doing whatever they wanted, acting however they wanted was fine as long as they were "expressing themselves". This is what we get from that selfish type of attitude. Good social morays, manners, and respect are taught by parents and I believe there is a swing back to it again, thank god. But we have to have the parents to do it. With all that came lack of respect for oneself which brought on early sexuality, babies born to babies, no fathers and no real family life. It takes a family to bring up children in the right attitudes. Hopefully, that is changing as well. We also have a new era of manners to learn what with the use of electronics, cell phones, IPods, etc. in public. We have to have new education to teach people how not to be rude in the use of all this new stuff. Maybe a whole new business teaching electronics etiquette?

regrettably No, i've got grown up in a relatives the place manners are significant techniques to abide by utilising. We have been taught to assert please and thank you, would I and that i'm sorry. It feels like your loved ones would have slightly of city in them and are not comfortable or used to utilising etiquette on a every day foundation. i'm hoping that's not the case, yet merely shop your head extreme and be the main well mannered guy or woman you are going to be to each physique that comes into your process existence.

I think that as a whole, it may be due to the fact that our social skills aren't learned early enough anymore.
Kids had to learn early on that they had to share, and play nicely, not anymore.
The parents' are telling the children that if that's what you want, go get it.
Also, children are allowed more now than ever to challenge authoritative figures, example that I know I'm guilty of:
If your teacher is mean or rude, then report her to the principal, if he or she doesn't handle it, let me know, then I'll report the both of them.
I think this causes some lack of respect between adults and children.
Then they become adults.

Actually, I am surprised how few people are rude on the forums here. Maybe they get quickly booted out. I think people at least on Y!Answers are pretty great compared to the rest of the world.

Our morals in society are going down the drain. People just don't give a damn anymore and like to rebel and do whatever they want. This will only get worse as our next generation of teenagers grow up. I mean, have you heard of some of those murders and suicides taking place?

Not true. I'm rarely rude unless provoked. And I raise my son to have very good manners. It is not acceptable to be openly rude to people.

People are very egocentric these days. They figure if it doesn't bother them, it shouldn't bother anyone else either. Like the lady in the grocery store the other day cursing on a cell phone with children all around, including one in her cart....
