I honestly have to say i cannot cook for my LIFE.
Want to see the pancakes i screwed up this morning?

Well, hey I'm only thirteen, but I suck at the frying pan, when half of my friends don't.


Ok, so you saw how horrendous i am at being in the kitchen,
But I want to become a near decent cook.
I'm talking Perfect Cupcakes, Pies, and Desserts.
Do i just keep practicing or what?
Don't insult how bad my pancakes look, or me.
i know I'm terrible, and bad looking, but i just need tips.

i did not look at your pancakes but on thing you need is practice, & maybe a couple of cooking classes. use recipes & maybe try pancake mix there is one i like called Kruestief & i know i did not spell it right but all u add is water & if you follow the directions on the label use the correct measurements of mix & water it may work. don't be so hard on yourself you will get it

i think you need to relax a bit--you can do it. Start out with simple recipes--follow the recipes to the T. Also, use crockpot recipes, they are pretty easy. See if you can find some cooking classes for beginners. Also, see if a friend can help or show you how to make pancakes. When you watch someone, that helps.

Try your pancakes again--use the Bisquick recipe or buy pancake MIX. With the mix , you just add water. Get your pan hot, add small amount of oil, add even amounts of batter for each pancake---turn heat down and flip pancake over --fry other side. You can do it, just stop thinking you cant do it.

I'm pleased you tried to make the pancakes. Some 13 yr olds don't even try. The first pancakes may have turned out not quite right but you'll get better each time you try. I couldn't see your picture so I don't know how they looked - did they taste good? The stomach doesn't care if they taste good. My granddaughter is 13 and what I noticed about her cooking is she reads through the recipe so fast, she makes mistakes so I recommend you measure everything out ahead of time - whatever recipe you decide to make - and re-read the recipe to make sure you have it right (and the right ingredients). Once you have the right ingredients, you are ahead of the game!! You should try to make crepes. The batter is thinner than pancakes and you just pour enough in the pan, and swirl the pan, to coat the bottom. You cook it until it starts to curl on the edges (it will come loose from the pan with a light shake - turn it over and cook it for only a minute on the second side. I like to cut bacon in half and place 3 halves in the center of the skillet - cook until the fat is clear (don't turn your heat above Medium). Drain off all but 1 tablespoon of the fat, put the 3 pieces of bacon back into the center of the skillet and pour the batter (by tablespoonfuls) over the bacon and swirl the pan until it covers the bottom of the pan (a thin pancake). When it comes loose from the sides, shake it lightly until the whole thing unsticks and turn it over for 1 minute. Serve with butter and syrup. Yummy!

One recipe for dessert I taught my granddaughter that is easy is to take one of those crescent refrigerator roll packages (the kind you bang on the counter to pop it open), 1 package of almond paste or marzipan (you will only use 1/2 of the package), and your favorite flavor of jam. Unroll the rolls (they will be triangles) and place half of them on a cookie sheet with a piece of wax paper on the cookie sheet. With the straight edge of the dough in towards you and point away from you (starting at the top), slightly overlapping each other, forming an oval with them. Don't worry if it's not a good looking oval. Take the almond paste and roll it between your fingers to form a rope (a little at a time) and place it on the center of the dough. Take some of your favorite jam and place it over the rope all the way around the dough. Now take the second half of the dough, unroll it, and place it with the point facing into the center of the oval, over the top of the filling. Fold the bottom points up and the top points down to seal it. Pinch them together. Place in the oven and bake it according to the package directions which will be until it is golden. Remove it from the oven and let it cool. (You will only use half of the almond paste. Save the rest for another roll) Once it's cool, take some powdered sugar (about 2 cups) and add 1 tablespoonful of milk at a time, stirring, until you can drizzle it over the roll with a spoon - don't make it too thin but it should be thin enough where you don't have to spread it with a knife - just drizzle it over it. Some will run off it - don't worry about that. And you're done! Once it's all cooled and set, lift it off the wax paper and put it on a plate, cover with saran until you are ready to serve it. Cut it into slices - not too big because it's very rich. Hope that helps you. If you are happy with that recipe and you want to make it again, you can add a little food coloring to the powdered sugar to make it pink or whatever color you want but don't try it until you have the recipe made the first time.

what is it that you want to cook......... A really easy way to learn to cook even though your seldom is to buy a cook book for meals for 2..... or 1 ...... this will take you step by step.. and you will always have it.... if you ever need the help.. They have from chicken to fish,, steak and everything....... After a while cooking from a cook book you will remember the way to do it and soon enough you will be a chief of your own

well, I couldn't see the picture but I know from past experience that practice makes perfect. I'm 17 and I'm pretty good at cooking, But I sucked at cooking when I first started. And are you trying to make homemade cupcakes and pie. I Started out making stuff out of the box, you know the kind that you just add eggs and milk to, and eventually I moved on to harder stuff and got better.

There is a chef on Food Network named Sandra Lee and she has a show called "Semi-Homemade" Which is where she makes food from store bought items and then some homemade items (sorry, I kind of explained that badly) but she has some good and easy recipes you can try out. Just go to the link I gave you.

Plus you can search that website for other easy recipes and tips for cooking. Just keep trying and you'll get better. Good Luck!

Yes keep right on practicing.
Believe me when my sister first got married she asked for the recipe on how to boil water. Today is a fablous cook. It took lots of practice.
IF your using margine or butter to make the pancakes use a lower heat setting. With a higher heat they will burn.
Cooking desserts always make sure to have the rack in the middle and cook at the desire temperture.
Remember that gas and electric stoves/ovens are different and cook the food differently.

I didn't see any pancakes. But anyway, get yourself a basic cookbook such as Better Homes and Gardens, they have paperback ones that aren't too expensive. Maybe your mom already has one? That's how I learned to cook at your age. I messed up plenty of times (once I was making pineapple upside down and forgot the pineapple. Scooped the batter all off and fixed it!) Follow directions and you'll soon get the hang of things.

The best thing to do is to practice and make sure you are following directions completely...once you can do that then you will be able to experiment.
Try getting some easy cookbooks and have fun.

I couldn't view you pancakes so I can't help with those.

Im only 11 and Im useing my sisters yahoo e-mail and I know how to make lasanga


Cook ground meat: season ground meat with pepper, onens, garlic,salt and other beef seansonings. fry a bit in a pan with the lid on suring for enery 5 minutes for 30 minutes.

While thats cooking boil some water with some salt and cook the lasanga noodels until there cooked but a littal hard and whill all that cooks, cut some cheese, any cheese and when its all done. take any sause you like of tamatosand put it on the bottem and then noodels and then meat and chease untill everything is in the lasanga. and then cook that For 30 min and it cool for 10 min to cut it easir.

Angel honey, it just takes lots of practice. You learn by doing, it's called a learning process. Start by helping in the kitchen, and soon you'll be doing it well on your own. Good luck, cooking is fun.
