MS Office is the short term of Microsoft Office and MS Works. Mircosoft Works. You will get a MS Works when you buy a new laptop or computer. But you cant find MS Works in public places like school or library. They are all installed MS Office. So I would say MS office is bettr to use. Still you could MS works but you need to change something each time when you save your work. If we forget to change, it wont work on MS Office.

Microsoft Office is the full version of an Office suite with all the goodies such as an advanced clip art and more tools for things such as MS Word.

MS Works is a simple version of MS Office which is packed with most computers. This is a scaled down version of what MS Office has to offer

MS Works is super basic, while MS Office will have all the bells and whistles.

MS Works includes basic word processing, basic spreadsheet, basic calendar, etc.

MS Office Word has word processing with all the different effects you can add in like adding tables, graphics into the documents, create web pages, etc.

MS Office Excel starts with the spreadsheet and then has formatting, anlysis tools, auto complete.

Basically, works is Basic and Office is the Premium (thus the cost.)

If you're interested a free alternative is OpenOffice. You can use Open Office for just about everything you can do with MS Office and it is free.

MS Works is an integrated software package for simple documents, spreadsheets, databases (flatfile), powerpoint viewer, e~mail, calender, and other features as an all-in-one program. It has limited use but is ideal for anyone starting out, school age users, technophobes, and anyone who wants quick easy stuff.

MS Office is more complex, and documents, spreadsheets, databases etc are sold as individual programs; or as an integrated package to varying levels of expense and complexity.

Separate add ins can be purchased. MS Works files can be opened in MS Office, but if MS Office files are opened in MS Works you will lose some of the formats and features as they may not be supported.

MS Office is a suite of programs, (could be three, or 6, depending which version and year it is) and Works is just that, Works.. that one program that is word proccessing only, nothing else..

MS office is vista ultimate and MS works is Vista basic, but MUCH worse!...
