John 6:36
Jesus said to them, I am the bread of Life, he who comes to Me shall by no means hunger and he who believes into me shall by no means thirst."

John 7:38
He who believes into Me, as the Scripture said, out of his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.

Jeremiah 15:16
Your words were found and I ate them, And Your word became to me The gladness and joy of my heart, for I am called by Your Name, O Jehovah, God of hosts"

How do we take Christ as the Bread of Life and the Living water.
We eat and drink with our mouths but what part of our being do we substantiate and lay hold of Christ as the Word of Life.. as the Living water.. as the Bread of Life.
We are a tripartite being.. made up of spirit soul and body. Share of how you partake of the Lord as your daily nourishment and supply each and every day in order to grow and go on in the Christian life?

God Bless You, God has indeed revealed his truth to you.
The food and drink your nourish your flesh will last you for today but the spiritual nourishment that comes form God is everlasting.
We do not worship God with flesh and traditions of law but in spirit and in truth.

Jesus is the living manna that fell from heaven.

Moses in Genesis 1 God said Let US create man in OUR image
Genesis 2 shows the creation of man.
God formed man from the dust (flesh)
God beathed in life (spirit)
Man became a living soul (soul)
Man is created in the image of God more than mere flesh but also with an eternal spirit.
Flesh, spirit and soul ONE man.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit ONE God.

in john 7:38, Jesus speaks of the new birth....

John 7:38 ...
"He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."

you didn't show the next verse... :39 which explains what this river of living water IS ....

"But this spake he of the SPIRIT, which they that believe on him SHOULD receive: for the HOLY GHOST was not yet given;
because that Jesus was not yet glorified."

Jesus was not glorified until He rose to heaven. at that time, He received His glorified body....
when He came back to earth & appeared to the apostles, His glorified body could could eat w/ the disciples, yet walk through a wall.

God's Spirit (the Holy Ghost) was not poured out until the day of pentecost (acts 2), which was 50 days after Jesus' crucifixion. ("pente" means 50).

this was the first time that man was infilled w/ His Spirit w/ the evidence of speaking in other tongues as God's Spirit gave the ability (acts 2:4).

believing "as the scripture hath said" means ...
you must 1st believe that Jesus is the living God.
you must then be born again as Jesus described in John 3. ... of the water & the Spirit. this is the plan of redemption for the human race.
the apostles in the book of acts experienced & taught this new birth. see acts 2,8,10,19.

we are to experience this same new birth today.

being born of the water is baptism "in the name of the LORD Jesus" (not "in the father, son, & holy spirit" as these are titles & do NOT have the power to remit sin. only Jesus' name can remit siin.)

when you are born of the Spirit, you "began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gives utterance." (acts 2:4)
this is the living water that flows out of you.
if you have ever experienced it, you know that is a good description of being filled w/ God's Spirit.

w/o the faith to believe "as the scriptures hath said", the new birth is NOT possible. if you don't know HOW the scriptures said... go to the book of acts & read about it. there is describes NT salvation (acts 2,8,10,19).

the new birth is described over & over throughout the NT. most people just don't understand what it means.

i have been baptized in Jesus' name in a oneness apostolic church.
i experience the "living waters" when i speak in tongues as God has given me the ability.
it is the "refreshing" that scripture speaks of.

i have been saved "by the washing of regeneration & the renewing of the Holy Ghost"
(titus 3:5) ...
& being justified by Jesus' grace, i "should be made an heir according to the hope of eternal life". (titus 3:7)
i shall never hunger or thirst for i have been "born again", as the scriptures hath said. (acts 2:38)

the OT is a bit different even though the Jews lived under the tabernacle plan was an example of the new birth to come in the NT.

Hi Sandy. Nice Avatar. I think the Lord's supper is one way we commemorate the life, burial and Resurrection of Christ.

When partake of the Bread, which symbolizes his body, and then we drink from the cup. The Wine symbolizes he shed blood on our behalf. The Blood of christ cleanses us from all our sins.

1 Corinthians 11:23, 24

Have faith dear friends in God.

Thanks for sharing Sandy.

I think this is not talking about the wine and the bread that we take in communion, but rather the Word of God that we read and study. Jesus is the Word of God, and the Word is also referred to as water (Eph. 5). I think God's Word nourishes our souls as we read it and take it into us and make it a part of our lives by living it out.

I partake in the Lord by reading the bible. It is the word of God and food for our souls. I think he gives us the living water. It is a fountain that wells from within us. It is his spirit, his joy, his wisdom. Sometimes I can feel the joy and peace welling up from within me and I know that's what He was speaking of. I think we partake of the cup of His sufferings at times. That's what he called the cup at the last supper. I have tasted of that many times, too. Good provocative question sister. ((((hugs))))) God bless you.

man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Matt 4:4
1Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

If you want to grow physically you eat physical food!
If you want to grow spiritually you eat spiritual food, & Jesus is the food we eat of. (the bread of life). We do this by studying the bible Gods Word for Jesus is the "Word". Read John chapter 1. You eat by studying & doing what Gods Word tells us to do. Read John chapter 15.

"Bread of Life" and "Living Water" are metaphors.

Just as we accept bread and water into our bodies in order to live, accepting Jesus and His words will enable us to live eternally since we get 'nourishment' from the very Source of life.

Wow, some people get angry when they hear Truth! To try to answer your question, I pray, TRY to read my Bible (please pray for me on that...MAJOR warfare!), go to Church, listen to Christian music, listen to Bible Studies on the radio, fellowship with other Christians and give my life over to Him. He is in control, not me!
