In your experience, would a Jewish Rabbi be willing to help a Gentle Christian learn more about the Talmud--linguistically, theologically, etc.?

The "Jew" I'm asking is that Jew who believes the Torah to have been given by God to Moses.

First what is a Jew?

Yes, absolutely. Probably not on an individual basis--more likely through a class, or by directing you to some good books on the Talmud (at least at first, to give you the history and structure).

We have Talmud study groups once a week at our synagogue. Check your local synagogue and find out what's available. They are certainly open to all -- Jew or gentile.

You won't find a rabbi who's willing to work with you one-on-one. We always study in groups of 10. Study is considered to be an encounter with God.

It is definitely possible if the Rabbi in question is qualified.

They have many Talmud classes for beginners, you might want to look into joining one of those.

Sure. They would probably refer you to a class, though. Rabbis are very busy people, but if they had the time, I'm sure he would try to fit you in.

I suspect so. Rabbi's are teachers.
