Why else do people who smoke pot see Jesus sometimes?

When I was much younger, I thought it was possible. I was a serious pot smoker. I used to buy weed by the pound. I am not kidding. It saved me the trouble of having to score so often. A pound lasted about 2 or 3 months, depending on the quality.

I considered myself a good Catholic Christian, as I attended daily mass, led prayer groups, read the bible, and was involved in various ministries..

First, Scripture tells us that our body is a Temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are to keep our bodies clean and pure.

Second, Scripture also tells us that drunkards will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. I think it is safe to say that you could include potheads in the category of drunkards.

Finally, in my old twisted way of thinking, I used to get high and say the Rosary. One time, as I was saying the Rosary while stoned, I heard a female voice tell me, "You cannot know the will of God if your mind is not pure." I don't know, maybe the weed I was smoking was too killer and I was hallucinating, but I got scared, and decided to stop smoking. My life changed after that.

Peace be with you.

rightway: "Yes"; one can smoke pot and be regarded as a Christian by God. Christians have varying weaknesses and do sin like anyone else does. The main difference is that Christians (genuine ones) have a working spiritual relationship with God, the Father, through Jesus Christ. Therefore, he or she has their sins atoned for. Now; the question arises, "Since a Christian's sins are atoned for, should he or she deliberately be smoking on a reefer"? - The answer is "No" he or she should be trying to avoid the sin he or she is enticed into doing. Remember; do not make the mistake of "writing people off" because he or she is weak in an area of their spiritual relationship with God, the Father. Of course; by the same token - all Christians , along with all people ever, born will have to stand before Jesus Christ to give account for his or her own actions. Thankfully; mercy, grace and love will be in the heart of our Judge - Jesus Christ !

Well - I believe that it says in the Bible that you should "live by the law of the land." - and smoking pot is against the law.

So - my thought is that you could be a Christian - and smoke pot. But - you can't really be a GOOD Christian and smoke pot. Well - at least not in the U.S. I think pot is legal in Holland - right? So maybe you could smoke it there and be a good Christian too.

Namaste!

Yes, but you leave yourself open to the demonic realm.
I recommend you ask the Holy Spirit to guide you on this one if you are a pot smoking Christian.
Maybe He will guide you to something better.

Also, we are accountable, and if a non- Christian sees you smoking pot, how are they to know where you draw the line ? especially young people ( Jesus says " if any of you causes one of these little ones to offend, then he's better off hanging a millstone around his neck and jumping into the sea..")

It's possible to be a Christian and do anything, but that doesn't mean you should. It's currently against the law right, is it good for a Christian to break the law?

Instead of trying to find loopholes and discern between definite rights and wrongs, just use your own common sense and ask "what is the wise thing to do?" Just answer this honestly, and you will more often than not find yourself in right standing with God's word (assuming you're a Christian)

I've always assumed it must be ok, because the writers of some parts of the bible were clearly smoking something. Have you read Revelations? St John, the author, must have been high as a kite when he wrote that.

"And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. " (Revelations 13:1)

2 Corinthians 7:1 says to avoid practices that defile the flesh - "Therefore, since we have these promises, beloved ones, let us cleanse ourselves of every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in God’s fear"
