RENTING a cable box will get you ALL the channels....however the Montgomery Wards TV sets were built in the 80's....and many of those TV sets could not get above CABLE 35....
Parts are not available, so we can't fix it up....
I don't think you remember the REALLY REALLY REALLYYYYYY OLD Cable systems that only got up to 36 channels do you?
I almost forgot myself.....
Man the OLD cable boxes without the remote....it takes me back to my youth.....

If you really haven't got a menu button somewhere on the tv then probably you need the original remote. If you are trying to use a universal, look into the prices on factory remotes. I got one for my set or $12.95 online and it works without any programming and cannot get de-programmed. Was well worth it. Then you will go through the menu and un-delete those stations. You might also try just unplugging the tv overnight--might take care of it.

I had an old TV that only got 36 channels like yours.
Montgomery Wards...didn't they go out of business a long time ago? All the stores near me disappeared about 8 years ago. If your TV is from them, it could very well be too old to get all the stations. In this case, you'll have to call your cable company and see about getting a cable box from them.

You need to reprogram the channel memory so that you get the other channels. If your remote's menu key doesn't work, try getting one of those cheap universal remotes. It may be able to send the menu command.
The other way is to address the channels directly, by pressing the appropriate number buttons for the channel you want. You may have to press a leading zero as well.
Also, check the setting of the TV/CATV switch to see if that makes a difference.

If it is old, it might have a hidden door in the front of the TV under the picture tube that will have the add and delete buttons for the channels.

Go to your main menu & look for " initial start-up" or " auto-programming" & do that process, allowing your TV tuner to scan ALL the channels you have, storing them in the tuner's memory. Then hit OK or save.
