The real tragedy is most departments don't want the guys on the street asking about legal status. That means, when someone is drunk or drugged up, runs over someone and kills them, the tragedy is many are illegals and most without a drivers license.

Anyone dying is not a good thing, but when it could be stopped by asking to verify if a person is illegal or not, and then, if you have too, get them off the streets and shipped back home. In my area, more and more crimes are being committed by illegal immigrants. MS13 is really big in the gangs here so, we caught between a rock and a hard place.

I wish Congress would get off their butts and do something about immigration. Its way out of hand. If you have to go to the local Emergency room, be ready for a wait, at least 4 hours. Most of the people in there speak little English and all waiting for care.

A tragedy is a tragedy, it does not matter if the person is undocumented. We all are humans. Your friend should really look at what is inside his heart. The day we stop caring for our fellow humans it will be the end of our days.

I'll be honest--whenever I hear of any tragedy in the news I pretty much pass it off. The things that happen really might be sad or horrible, but if it isn't negatively impacting my life and wasn't caused by me, then it really doesn't effect me very much.

honestly i feel it is a shame, but i am also angry that news organizations pimp tragedy, we don't need to know about murders in other country's or states. people feign concern about people and kids that they never have or never will meet. society has enough bad things happening that i truly feel that these people who watch a channel doing 24 hour news ( i don't call it that ) about Anna Nicole's death, or baby, the kid that disappeared in Spain or even OJ etc etc etc....... really need to get a life

Yes, though, to be fair, I don't invest a lot of emotion in any given tragedy, regardless of who's involved. There are so many tragedies, so zealously reported by the media, afterall.

'Compassion Fatigue,' I've heard it called...

No...I don't ride it off as nothing....they are the new fools for big business.....I personally BEG them to listen to me....but they call me "racist" as if I'm keeping them from the American Dream. I'm trying to keep them from the Great American Distruction. But as they say....moths fly into the flame and these guys are going to get their lesson. All I can say is....it ain't cos you're white or black or brown or green....it's coz you are a fool. Fools come in all shapes and sizes and races.

Life is challenging for every one of us. It is designed this way. Strength and character would be impossible if life were devoid of struggle. We would die quite young of acute boredom. Happiness is like steam. If it were permanent, we would become numb to it. The chief aim of wisdom is to select your challenges carefully. There is a marvelous reward for those who have discovered the secret of enjoying the climb, as much as the afterglow of rest.

Immigrant or Illegal Alien? They aren't the same.

Legal immigrants -- it matters, a lot. These are good, law-abiding people. They deserve every chance and opportunity.

Illegal Alien -- they cause more tragedies every day. It's hard to feel sympathy for someone who is breaking laws and stealing opportunities from other immigrants and from the native poor.
