I'm completely missing the logic (or whatever) on this one.

Why cant they be held at the same standard. First off, religion should hold not affect the standard to which you are held. It is a common misconception that being a Christian means that your a good person. Yes, the "job" entails being nice, but there are those who call themselves Christians and are not good people, or were formally not good people. For instance, a person who has come out of prison for attempted murder, will not neccessarily be considerd a good person just because he's Christian. Christianity or any other religion should not effect how you act (though if you've come form being a convict, it should change you) its more of a different outlook on what is right and wrong. There are good people who are aithiests, but thier views on right and wrong can be somewhat or totally different from those who are Christians.
In a work place you expect people to conduct themselvs with self respect, and integrity. If these standards were only applied to Christians, it would make the workplace unfair. For Chirstians would then be held to higher standards than those who are not Christians, leaving more room for error with those who are non-Christians than with Christians.
Make sense??

I don't think non-Christians should be held to a higher standard. This could be interpreted as discrimination. The non-Christian can bring into the work place the same spiritual principals the Christians are supposed to. Forgiveness, compassion, honesty, tolerance, love, understanding, caring and wisdom. If the non-Christian is able to do this do you really believe they are any less in the creator's eyes. I think the creator looks right through what you call yourself and see's what you really are.

We should be held to the same standards in the work place as a person's religion (or lack thereof for atheists) has absolutely no connection with how well they can perform a specific job.
Also, if you are speaking of ethical conduct, religion has no bearing on that as has recently been seen in the US where there is a possiblity of an Ethics Committee investigation of a US Senator who has been championing "Traditional Family Values" (you can read this as Christian Values in the US) who has publicly stated he lied under oath in pleading guilty to a sexually-related misdemeanor.
I personally think he should be investigated -- not because of his sexual conduct -- but because he stated in an interview that he lied in the guilty plea to "make it go away"

No. Other way around. Christians should be held to a higher standard. Work ethic, language, dress, attitude etc...

No. I think unless you work in a religious setting, there should be no accommodation for religion in a workplace. Workplaces are becoming too personal. That in turn allows your employers to ask more of you. It's a give and take. The more they think they are accommodating you, the more they think they can take from you. Longer hours, poorer pay and benefits, these things they will take as long as they think they have given you something in return.

Maybe so. I just read the question from somebody wanting to destroy the "tyranny of organized religion". So perhaps if people think they are superior to a religious group they should be help to a higher standard.

Why do you ask ?
