My mom has to spend 2 months in a short term care facility for an infection. Her 2 dogs do not like mine, and I have 4 dogs anyway.

My uncle lives next door to my mom and walks them (well, he just let's them outside to run in the yard). I don't know if I like this idea since she'll be gone for 2 months. They won't have anyone to sleep or play with. Are there any other options?

My uncle couldn't keep them in his house. My mom's dogs are big and he has 2 shih tzu's that are pretty old and don't like to play.

... oh yeah, and my brother wouldn't take care of them. My dad usually took care of them but he died a few months ago.

You could hire a petsitter, but I don't know how much better that would, since usually they just visit the dog once or twice a day.

Maybe ask around to see if anyone will take the dogs for a couple months. If you're willing to pay for a shelter, it certainly would be better to get someone to pay to care for them in their home.

Maybe you could find someone who will live in your mom's home for a couple months. It might work out really well that someone needs a place to stay for a couple months.

Either way, I would check the person's references and get a signed contract. I've heard about some weird things, which aren't terribly likely, but I'd feel better having some sort of signed agreement.

The only y to keep them out of a kennel is You and your Uncle taking turns letting them out to run in the yard, and keep them fed and watered. The other option is hire dog sitter that does the same thing, lets them out etc but it would probably cost about as much as a kennel. The other way would be someone who rescues or fosters dogs. You would have to pay, but they would get a vacation from home for a couple months, and care from the foster home.

y dont u find like a cousin or other uncle or friend to take them. im sure there r a lot of people willing to take care of the dogs. or hire someone to come to the house daily and feed, play with, and spend time with and walk the dogs. i do this during the summer when i need some cash. i just put up a flyer in the local grocery store and people call me when they r going to be on vacation and i go to their house and take care of their dogs and let them outside and walk them and spend time with them. see if u can find some high school kid willing to make a few extra bucks a week. im sure someone would help u out. i know if i were there i would do it

It really is best that you find a good vet to board them at- her dogs will be very lonely and might even begin to destroy the house if they get bored enough and 2 months of just being let outside a couple times a day isn't acceptable. I would highly recommend looking into vets in your area that board animals and make sure they let the dogs outside to play in a large play area a lot during the day. That way they will be socialized and not lonely.

Maybe hire a house sitter, many are seniors who could do with the extra cash and some are dog folks too. Wish ya luck on this one. Hope you can find one, the house oughtn't sit vacant for a stretch either in this day and age. Good luck, sincerely.

There are people who will come to the house and do anything you need. Look up pet sitters or doggy day cares in your area. hope your mom feels better!

i would go with a pet sitter - or - you could find a foster family for them - check with your local spfc about a temporary foster home for your moms dogs - with her donating so many bags of dog food - or a cash donation -

there are doggy daycare things, but not for a day, for an extended period amount of time. my friend's neighbor took their dog to it and said he had a ball! by the way, why can't you take care of them?!
