Convince yourself you've got to do it and then do it. Choose a public place to break up where you can both walk away after wards. End it without wanting to remain friends or wanting to continue seeing each other, it'll take time before you can do that, maybe in about 6 months you can try to contact each other again. End it definitively and don't dilly dally. I tried to remain Friends with my ex, but the thing is those who get dumped continue to hope and after wards suffer a hell of a lot more.

After only 14 months, it could be that you've fallen out of infatuation with him. It's a bit soon to be in "love." Could be you long for the excitement of a new relationship. At that rate, you have to be fair to your bf and break it off with him. An open relationship would just break both your hearts.

14 months? WOW! lool

okay uhhh.... is it because you're bored with him? Or is it because you have just lost complete interest in him as a bf? =)

A good way to break up with someone is to just say you still want to be friends. DO IT IN PERSON. Because this line is used to often, people don't take it so seriously. TELL HIM, "you're such a great bf, but I just don't think it's working anymore. But I REALLY want you to be my friend. My best friend." something along those lines..... =)

This is easy: Just tell him.

The longer you wait and worry about it, the worse it wll be when you finally do tell him.

Tell him everything you said here. You love him, but it just doesn't feel like it's working. Discuss what your options are as a couple, and take it from there.

That is the fair and responsible thing to do.

Tell him that you really like him, but your just not feelin it. And that you need some time apart to date other guys.

It'll still hurt him but at least he won't be crushed for life. You broke up with him not the hard way but the easy way and he won't take it that hard if you use the words I wrote.
Later.

they just be straight with him and tell him that you would like to see other people and just have an open relationship to try and decide if things between you and him are going to work out, the worst he can say is that you are a horrible person but most likely he will understand, you just have to bite the bullet and tell him, chances are he is feeling the same.

The only decent thing to do is to tell him how you feel. Would you want someone to stay with you if they really wasn't into you anymore? Think about it! Be nice when you do it though

What's not working anymore?
you can't stay with him if you think it's not working out anymore. if you're young, you need to move on and start dating others.
ask his opinion too, if it's not working anymore. if he agrees, ask him to move on and date others. if he wants to stay together, let him know you'll be looking...or try another 6 months and move on.
