That's not a good comparison.

A good comparison would be that left handed people cannot marry other left handed people. Opposite neurological-orientation only! No same neurological-orientation marriage!

Hey, both sexual orientation and left/right orientation are neurological, so why not?

Being left handed is generally not associated with any particular sexual interests. Being gay is.

The religious community has picked out gays to persecute. (We will have to set aside the example set by the numerous clergymen who have had sex with choir boys and the like.) The anti sex traditions passed into the Western church model, because the evangelist Paul was a pervert, and of course was always in resistance. What we resist persists. The churches derived from Paul's evangelism are very focused on sex as a result. Paul was full of reminders of the flesh and spoke to people who otherwise would probably not have thought about it so much. They were entranced to be persecutors of "deviant" sex. The traditions continue just as slavery and racism continues. Reality: Sex is sex. It is perfectly natural.

I have as a comparison Timothy churches I went to in India. Timothy was a much different person than Paul. Timothy churches are full of dancing and singing and having a good time. I never heard anyone mention sex or sin.

A real contrast!!!!!!!

the left handed thing is ridiculas, it's not devilish. As far as gays & marriage it is illigal in many states. If you're a chrisitan it is against the laws of nature, it takes a man & woman to reproduce & raise a family correctly. If they REALLY want to get married "spiritually" they can have a Spirtiual marriage but it won't be legal in the states eyes (unless they allow it in the state) or in Gods eyes. I'm a minister through Universal Life Church & I perform wedding ceremonies,but not same sex marriages, however this church does have ministers that can perform it. Or you can get ordained for free & do it yourself, but again it won't be a leagal wedding just a spiritual ceremony.

They had a problem with kids writing left-handed quite a few years ago. My grandfather was left-handed, but they forced him to write right-handed because they felt that left-handed people were less smart than righties... This went on until as recently as 2 decades ago, or maybe even less...

Go figure, we still have to clear more obstacles in this world. The man is beating us. We should fight back.

If a church wants to not allow gay people to get married in that church then that is their right. The Catholic church does not have to marry Hindus. Mormons do not have a right to get married in a synagogue.

However, getting a civil marriage is not a religious event, it is controlled by the state not the church.

The US (and many other countries) have laws saying that you can not discriminate on sexual orientation. So if the state gives a heterosexual couple certain rights and advantages for signing a piece of paper then it is constitutionally obliged, as far as I can tell, to do the same for a homosexual couple.

As far as I can tell any legal ban on homosexual civil marriage is unconstitutional. The only thing I can see stopping it being challenged is that the current majority of the supreme court appears to me more interested in legislating on their beliefs rather than the constitution.

Wow interesting....so what scripture(s) in the Bible says that left-handed people are evil/shouldn't get married, or just that being left-handed is a sin?

Marriage is between a man and a woman. They have children together and form a family unit....That is God's plan for the family but is is also the best plan.

When Gays, practice marriage, one is always pretending to to be a man, and one a woman...it is a sick way to form a family unit. If they want children, they must ask someone of the opposite gender to help them....that should tell you , this is not the natural way of things.

Turn to Romans chapter 1 and verse 26. And what Paul is talking about in this section is God’s wrath against unbelieving man who suppresses the truth about God’s nature and character—those who do not honor God as God in verse 21, those who exchanged the truth for a lie in verse 25. And then you get down to verse 26, and you see what Paul says here: "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper" (vv. 26–28).

And I read that same passage in well over a dozen different translations—even the most liberal translation I could find. In essence they all say the same thing: men with men and women with women. There’s no escaping what Paul is talking about here.

Further, all the translations refer to these actions in very negative terms: degrading, depraved, debased, defiled, improper, immoral, indecent, wretched, shameless, vile, perverse, unseemly, unnatural, errant, reprobate, dishonorable. Any way you slice it, it comes out the same.

And remember, this in is the New Testament—the basis for Christianity. And it’s not just in Romans 1. In 1 Corinthians 6 there is a list of unrighteous and sinful characteristics of those who will not inherit the kingdom of God. Homosexuals are on that list—and the Greek word here is a compound word that literally means "males who go to bed with males." And in 1 Timothy chapter 1 the same word is used in another list of things that are ungodly, unholy and profane—anything contrary to the sound teaching of God.

God created marriage. I would think He should be the one to define it! And HIS definition is the union of ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN. I'm pretty sure He's not going to change His mind on this one!
This has got to be one of the dumbest arguments for gay marriage!

Gay = Sin
Lefthandedness=lefthandedness
Go figure!

Hey! I'm left handed! :o)

Gays should be able to get married just like everybody else. I am shocked that it is even a debatable issue!

Edit: LXV, you are soo right. My friend has the most horrible handwriting, and is right handed, because she tried to use her left hand in Kindergarten, and her teacher forced her to switch. Weird.
