Most of them will leave on their own if they find they can't get work in this country. That's why they come here in the first place. They come for the jobs.

Sending home 20 million people will not solve the problem. But making them all legal citizens will only make the problem worse. Be reminded that those that do not remember history are doomed to repeat it. This is what we are looking at if we legalize everyone who is here illegally. We have done it at least three times before and each time the number has doubled form the time previous, so going by the current algorithm, if we legalize 20 million ill eagles now in 20 years we will have 40 million more.
So what is the solution? I don't know if there is one, but we have to start now to at least minimize the issues.
So what are the issues?
The real issue is the Mexican Government is encouraging there under served underclass to migrate to th U. S.
This serves two purposes, One it generates the inflow of United States Dollars into their economy. And Two it gets the large populace of discontented masses out of the country so they do not revolt against a government so corrupt it does not want to change the status quo, because this mean people might realize just how well the Mexican economy can actually do, and those government official might get thrown out on their asses.
So we need to build the fence. We need to enforce the border. We need to stop letting the Mexican government from using us as a pressure release valve. If we do this the masses may actually rise up and do something.
By building the fence and enforcing the border, I believe it won't just help us, it will force Mexico to deal with the root of its problems, rather than just dumping them on us.
But the fence is the first step. Nothing else can be done until the border is resonably secure.
So now Amnesty, no work program, until we have a secure border.
Once the border is secure we can enforce our laws, we won't have to send everyone home, many will leave on their own volition. Then we can address the issues at hand, what to do with those still here.
But I do not trust the government to fulfill its promises, they haven't in the past, So build the fence, then we will talk.

The question does not define "the problem". Assuming that the asker is referring to "the problem" in the Uninted States, then sending 20 million illegal immigrants home can only solve 1/15th of the problem. There are 300 million people in the United States. So, 20 million equals one-fifteenth of the total number of people. In order to solve "the problem", you would have to get rid of the 280 million "legal" people. That would definately solve "the problem"!

Before you can "solve" a problem, you must define it. This is something politicians are loathe to do, since it would call for analysis of the situation and a commitment. Neither is high on the priority list of those who keep their jobs by being all things to all people and leaving no fingerprints...
In life, no problem is ever "solved."
Your hands get dirty, you wash them, they get dirty again.
Does that mean we shouldn't bother, or does it mean that we have to keep repeating the same action over and over?
No matter how many criminals we catch and prosecute, there will always be more criminals. Does that mean we should give up, close the courts and the jails? That would only create another criminal class--unemployed lawyers and cops!

No....it won't solve the whole problem....but it's a big step in the right direction. After that we need to make sure ppl only come in LEGALLY. If they want to get in so bad they should do it the right way. I know quite a few ppl that have come from Mexico legally (and other countries) and it's not too hard! If u really want to do it....u can. :D

It would lower my rent because of decreased overpopulation, allow me to save some money and send my son to a public school that has kids that speak English and are not overcrowded, allow me to have a lot less wait at the doctor's office and emergency room, allow me to save time and gas because my streets and freeways will be a lot more clear.
I am definitely willing to pay more for produce....hell, people wait in line and pay $5 for a Starbucks.
I would also be happy to have the teenagers able to work at fast food places and mow lawns to learn responsibility through hard work instead of seeing 40 year olds that don't speak enough English to correctly do their job..

Our borders need to be secured, also so no more can sneak across/in. It will be a relief when they are all gone and we can start cleaning up the mess that they have left behind.

I would hope so but they need to be taken to the South of mexico and dumped there so it won't be so easy to come back. Get them away from the border area. What is so hard for them to figure out about ILLEGAL?
