I am a born again non-denominational Christian. I have come to the conclusion that no matter how I try I will never be able to explain God/Jesus & the Bible to a non believer because the whole concept is too complicated and bizarre to explain. I choose to believe without seeing and have given my heart and soul to the Lord Jesus Christ but I can understand why some people do not believe. I will not debate or argue with a non believer because I have no concrete proof that God/Jesus exists. I know in my heart that they do but they can't feel my heart feelings or know what I know. I guess the best way to show people God/Jesus is to live your life according to Christ and be such an example of Christ's love that it will be obvious you have something special that others will want a part of. Does anyone else feel this way? Do you understand what I am trying to get at?

PS I DON'T MEAN ANY DISRESPECT TO GOD/JESUS WHEN I SAY THESE THINGS. I AM JUST GIVING YOU MY HONEST FEELINGS.

I like the idea that you just live a life that is a good example for others, and don't try to explain. Fact is, most of the explanations make no sense to a non-Christian anyway. But being a good person, with the occasional comment about giving Jesus the credit for your being a good person, should be plenty for you to do.

Yes the Holy Spirit is the one to reveal the truth to them, and that is why they must know about sin- because we all sin against God, and we all need His forgiveness....if they come to the Lord thinking that they are going to have a better life, they will be missing the point of salvation. Of course Jesus gives us a better life! But that is because we know we are being saved from sin and hell! He brings the joy and peace and blessings after we are saved....after we understand the gospel- and honestly the gospel is so simple- many are just blind and have hard hearts- and it is only up to God to soften them. See John 6:44. Romans 10:17 says that Faith comes from hearing the word of God.
One cannot have faith until they have "heard" the gospel of Jesus Christ, and that is the power of God working in them to receive it. ( The Holy Spirit)

Hi Kaliko! Most Christians believe in the Trinity. God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit existed before the earth was created. They are three eternal persons with one purpose. That person is to saved God's elect. Christ(Son of God) came and died a cruel death for our sins. He later ascended to heaven. he has promised that he is coming back.

The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Godhead. when we pray to Jesus the Holy spirit intercedes for us. He is also the one who comforts us in our times of sorrow. The Holy spirit will also guide you into all truth. (John 16:13).

Jesus is coming again.

John 14:1-3
Romans 10:9

I found this somewhere - it sounded logical and easy to believe.

In the beginning, the Biblegod created the universe. He gave everyone free will to act independently. Then he decided that acting independently of his will was a "sin", something he can't abide being in the presence of. So the Biblegod gave us free will but doesn't want us to use it. The logic here makes my brain hurt so we won't dwell on this point.

Anyway, so the Biblegod's pretty upset about all this sin on earth. Then he came up with a brilliant solution. He sent himself down to earth to assume a human form named "Jesus". He then arranged for himself to be sacrificed to himself. It was the only way he could convince himself to forgive all of us for being sinful.

For a while, the Biblegod's avatar wasn't sure about this mission that he sent himself on but then reminded himself, "Not my will but my will be done." [Matt 26:31] Being on the cross was really painful. At one point, he was heard to say "Me, why have I forsaken me". [Mark 15:34]

However, all the pain and suffering was worth it. If Biblegod hadn't sacrificed himself to himself, he could never have convinced himself to forgive us and change a rule that he made in the first place. He made himself suffer and die on the cross in order that we might be saved from his own wrath.

I'm not sure exactly how bleeding on a cross makes everything better but the Biblegod works in strange ways. Perhaps it’s some sort of therapy for working through his anger management problems. Regardless, he hasn't firebombed any cities lately [Gen 19:24-25] or called for the rape and genocide of entire tribes [Num 31:14-18] since the days of the Old Testament, so let's not argue with what apparently works.

Anyone who doesn't accept the Biblegod's unconditional love as demonstrated by his act of masochism on the cross shall be cast into a lake of fire to be tortured for all eternity [Mark 16:16]. Remember, the Biblegod loves you and doesn't want to torture you for all eternity but you'll make him do it if you don't believe this outlandish tale.

Glory to the Biblegod. Amen.

To truly understand the Bible, you would have to know the period mind set and religious cultures of 2 to 4 thousand years ago. Then you need to understand that it is all copy of other religions and has been put together in what appears to be a very flim flam manner.

Well I can understand your meaning. After all, there are 66 books in the bible and they cover alot of information, don't they? I find one of the ways I can best relate who God is, or Jesus, is to talk about something in my life that was influenced or changed by my relationship with Him. Something He did, something I leraned, something about me that He worked on, like that. To try and tell everything from Genesis to Revelation *smile*, yes that's a little overwhelming!

Yes.
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate."

Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength."
- 1 Corinthians 1:18-25

I get your point, but see little point in believing in a mystical nonentity to justify living a good life. It is quite sufficient to live a good life because it advances the sort of society in which you want to live.

I agree with you totally. You see Love is an Emotion not lip service. Alot of religious people mistake Love for Lip-service!
God bless you!
