I don't know anyone on here be they Pro or Anti that agrees with illegal immigration.Nor open borders. The only differences I do see is our understanding of what has created the situation and how to handle it.So are facts like the Trade Agreements which have encouraged this mass immigration not understood or are they just lost in all the uproar over people illegally immigrating?

I think people don't like to face the root causes of immigration - especially illegal immigration - because they don't fit neatly into thier world views.
Conservatives don't like to admit that thier tough-security talk is just talk as long as they leave the borders open to floods of cheap-labor illegals.
Liberals don't like to admit that the unions, minimum wage laws, labor-protection regulation, and social programs they love are driving jobs out of America, and sucking illegals in at a fantastic rate. They like to think that they can just magically and arbitrarily raise the standard of living for everyone in the country with no consequences.

Let me get this straight:
Since NAFTA was passed, unemployment has dropped in both America and Mexico, and wages have risen much faster than inflation in both countries as well. And this has all happened while a lot of people moved from the poorer of the two countries to the richer one. Why is this bad?
REPLY:
Of course there are sectors of economies which do worse when there are trade agreements in place. They are the sectors which were relatively unproductive. As Adam Smith said, wealth is created when resources [including labor - note by me] are transferred from low value uses to higher value uses. It's almost impossible to increase the wealth of a country without destroying some jobs, and then replacing them with better jobs.

I agree. I'm not for open borders or illegal immigration.
I am pro-reform. I want our borders secure in order to decrease the amount of illegal immigrants coming here. But the problem i want solved is the 12+ million illegal immigrants living in the US. What to do? Mass deportation has been said numerous times that it won't happen because it's not possible and wouldn't be practical. We need to come up with a system who can bring out all the good people who have not been convicted of a crime so they can be legalized.
I think that for most people, it is hard to take in, not hard to understand (even though there are some). I think we will never agree on some comprehensive reform because they would want "mass deportation." I guess they will have to face that these illegal immigrants aren't going anywhere, and remaining illegal is not a good thing, and they would need to be legalized..

US has over 12 million illegal immigrants, and many will come for family reunion...
How can we treat them equally? They went everywhere protest for money for any issues... the big time corporation hired illegal immigrants and took advantages of them ... wal-mart ... McDonald... they all hired illegal immigrants ... How can US citizens to get a better job?
What happen to those who don't have jobs? Criminal ? sell drugs...
All the foreign students, they don't want to leave this country, and plus the illegal immigrants from the border... some come here legally, like travel, studying, do researching, business...

I don't think anybody could have said it better than B Kevorkian.
While I am sure that NAFTA has not helped the situation, it is not solely responsible for all illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants were coming well before NAFTA was agreed upon.

i do not think its hard to understand , perhaps complex and in fact motivated for so many factors . of course people do not like when someone can't wait and they just sneak into the country , it is understandable , perhaps lifting up our feet and placing them for a sec in their shoes would make us stop and think ' hey wait a minute ' what would i really do in the same situation ' .
in my opinion most immigrants in this country are grateful of being here and most would love to be able to communicate with all ( most are trying i know ) , we all know in Mexico and in all Latin America know of the many accomplishments of the USA and of the great minds it has given to the world . i do not think most see with bad eyes the Americans which arrive each year as tourist in fact we would love to have more , we would like to let them know that we in fact can be great people and that we should continue with all that has work and perhaps should stop to rethink all which hasn't which would of course would include NAFTA in which i have not made my mind about yet .

are you sure about the "facts" regarding the Trade Agreements ?
source please.
--------------------------------
okay I looked at that source you claimed as "fact"
The source clearly states that the United States Congress dose Not agree with the "Latino Civil Rights Leaders" on this issue.
I will take the side of Congress on this one.
got any more sources ?

Well, immigration has gone to the point that will be very hard to fix.
WE NEED ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS no question about it, however we need to stop making them permanent residents if we want to stop this problem, LEGAL immigrants will leave the fields as soon as they become permanent and we still have a void for farm work, so we need to find the way to make them temp-workers if we really want to fix this problem.

Let me ask you . . .
Is immigration illegal? Or is it "color of law"?
If "all men are created equal", and are "endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights", then government has no place to dictate anything other than what the Constitution allows or disallows.
The Constitution defines who is a Citizen and who is not, but it does not define who may be within the borders and who may not.
All immigration laws are "color of law" as they do not and can not apply to individuals with God-given rights.
