Depends on the type of wine. Each country has their speciality.

Wine, in general, is an acquired taste. Therefore, it is irrational to suggest that any one country produces the best tasting wine. It is more appropriate to ask, "What wine do you like?" That said, it is appropriate to comment on the great wine producing areas of the world. I prefer Australian wines, in general, to all others. There are great wines coming from California, France, Spain, Chile, and South Africa, as well. Some would suggest that judging wines is a sign of a wine snob- I find it to be a challanging personal trek, one that takes me around the globe, as I read about, and, more importantly, taste the production. I hope you will join me in the quest for the "best tasting wine", but, please, when you find it, do not tell me about it. The quest is the best part of the trek. Learn to keep notes on the wine you taste, noting your impressions in proper terms. Read a few books on the subject, so you know what to look for. Some wines have great nuances within their complexity which will be missed entirely if you fail to look for them. When you find a wine you dislike, note it, as well, and define the characteristics of the wine that turn you off. Learn about the people behind the wines you like. It adds a personal interest that will keep you enamoured of wine for a lifetime. Avoid the temptation to overindulge. The hangovers are not worth it, and can spoil an otherwise delightful experience. Enjoy!

That's a really tough question to ask. I've tried wines from France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Portugal, California, New York, New Jersey etc etc. They all have terrific wines and they all have terrible ones.If I had to choose I think that the Wines from France have been watched over for centuries and they have been very consistent. My favorite is Chateauneuf du Pape.

Personally, I prefer American wines. For some strange reason, I tend to go for the ones from strange places here in the U.S.
