I work at a Super Target and we have all sorts of things here. Groceries, clothes, bath/beauty stuff, toys, fruits and veggies, frozen foods, etc. What would you say is the proper technique in bagging these items besides keeping cold foods with cold foods, hot foods with hot foods, meats separate, grocery items together, milk, bread, and eggs in separate bags, fruits and veggies together, and cans with cans and boxes with boxes? Thanks....

When you have a lady customer by herself, just remember that will might be carrying and unloading all that stuff by herself. So try not to put too much into one bag. But the way you mention for organization is very good and always appreciated by a shopper.

I'm a little surprised that they haven't trained you,
but, my biggest pet peeve with "bag boys"
is that they'll put all the heavy stuff in one bag,
and then all the light goods in another.

Including what you wrote in the question, I prefer a "balance", so that I don't have to guess which bags have the lightest weight (most of the time, I can't see through the translucent plastic). For example, if I have 6 cans of beans and 2 boxes of macaroni, don't put all the cans in one bag, just because they fit! Put 3 cans in with one box of macaroni in one bag, then put the other 3 cans and box in another, and so on and so forth.

I also like it when they double-bag the heavy stuff without being asked.

But, I don't like it when they ask if I need help carrying the stuff out. I know they're just being courteous (or mindless drones!), but I don't think I look like I need the help, and, quite frankly, I find it insulting!

While we're on the subject, my BIGGEST pet peeve is when a cashier (or similar at any bank, retailer, shop, etc) looks at my "preferred customer discount card" (don't get me started on those!!!) and then refers to me by my FIRST name. I consider that extremely rude, but I never say anything to them, because I know they'll just say "it's what corporate wants us to do" (BTW, Target now refers to customers as "Guests". I consider *that* rude, too: I'm patronizing your store, not visiting for "tea"! Maybe it's their way of saying that not only is the customer not always right, but they're not even a "customer" any more!). Where's the respect???

Thus endeth the rant! ;)
