Because you can legislate 'hate crimes' but not a person's religious beliefs or lack thereof. I think that denying the Holocaust shouldn't be grounds for arrest, but the pain and suffering still runs deep in some parts of Europe. I may not agree with making it an offense to deny that the Holocaust ever happened, but I can understand why some people would feel that way.

A person's religious preference should be absolutely off-limits to governmental control, though -- whether s/he chooses to believe or not. Once you start dictating that everyone *has* to believe the way that you do, you're on the slippery slope to dictatorship, pogroms, and/or ethnic cleansing.

i think a lot of folks are missing the larger point-why should ANYONE go to jail for denying EITHER? everyone has an opinion on just about anything-the notion of imprisoning people for denying the holocaust should be absolutely repulsive to anyone who values free speech! what's next-the death penalty for multiplication errors? if there is no freedom of speech for those with ridiculous or hateful ideas, who's to say that what YOU think and say won't be next? imprisoning people for the content of their ideas and speech is a road that only a totalitarian dictator could love to travel. freedom is messy, inconvenient, and quite often uncomfortable at times...but it beats the alternative every time!

That's an interesting question. Somebody actually going jail for denying the Holocaust is a bit extreme....but I don't know why it's illegal!

Jewish influence in the media leading to jewish influence in various governments. In any nation where jewish ownership of the media is minimal, governments do not imprison people for exercising freedom of speech on the holocaust. By the way, none of these "developed" nations imprison people - jews, basically - for denying the Holodomar,in which 7 million Ukrainians were starved to death in a genocide program organized and led by the jewish commissar for the Ukraine,Lazar Kaganovich. Their food was taken away from them and given to jewish shtetels. We hear little of it in the U.S. - or any other country plaugued with jewish ownership of the media. Jews deny it happened.

Because the Holocaust was real and is proved to have happened.

God is totally unproven and most likely a fiction.

maybe because there is factual evidence (holocaust) of one and the only possible reason you could have to deny it is prejudice against a certain religious people and absolutely no evidence of the other (existance of dog- i mean god)?

Because we have blatant proof of the Holocaust and absolutely no proof of God.
