I used to get frustrated by that, but then I realized no-one was listening.

I have to agree with you. Sometimes it seems prayer just doesn't work. There were many times in my life I felt I needed something and it wasn't given. One instance was struggling through grade school math classes. Praying about my academic problems never seemed to helped me. This was very frustrating to me. Present day today I'm two classes away from getting my associates degree in college. What can I say the Lord works in mysterious ways.

Many time....over many years I have felt that way.
But, I'm finally coming to know that "prayer" doesn't "work". It is God alone who does the work. Our prayers only bring our desires (for others as well as ourselves) before God.
God can still answer with a Yes, No, or Later.....depending on what is going to be good for us.

Prayer, does in fact work...as long as God sits on the throne it works. Maybe you are talking to a wall. Find Jesus...then let's talk...

I agree, it is frustrating when my prayers don't seem to work. When that happens to me, I have to accept that God is over all and His plan must be something different than what I'm asking for.

sorry hun but "prayer doesnt work" is not a fact. If you feel like your talking to a wall then maybe you lack faith or what you are asking is not ment to be or perhaps is but its not the time.

If a prayer request is not granted, it is often understood as an unanswered prayer. However, this an incorrect understanding of prayer. God answers every prayer that is lifted to Him. What we have to remember is that sometimes God answers "no" or "wait." God only promises to grant our prayers when we ask according to His will. 1 John 5:14-15 tells us, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him.”
What does it mean to pray according to God’s will? Praying according to God’s will is praying for things that honor and glorify God and/or praying for things the Bible clearly reveals it is God’s will for us to have. If we pray for something that is not honoring to God or not God’s will for our lives, God will not give what we ask for. How can we know what God’s will is? God promises to give us wisdom when we ask for it. James 1:5 proclaims, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” Familiarize yourself with what the Bible says about God’s will for your life. The better we understand God’s Word, the better we will know what to pray for. The better we know what to pray for, the more effective our prayer lives will be.

It works for me and my family! We get positive answers all the time.
And believe me after our accidant last year we certainly need them.
Most of the time (I guess because he's watching) he seems to anticipate what we're about to ask.
But not all of our prayers are requests, many are praises, just because he loves us, and shows it.
Who are we? JW's of course. His chosen.
Isaiah 43:10-11
10Â “YOU are my witnesses,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that YOU may know and have faith in me, and that YOU may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none. 11Â I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior.”
Remember God allowed Satan to hurt Job, but not to kill him.

Its normally because you ask with wrong motives or the time you asked the prayer to come isnt the time its actually answered. God's time is not our time

prayer is pointless without faith, that could possibly be why you have not seen your prayers answered. I know God has definately answered my prayers.
