One of the side effects of Trazadone is it can cause the gums to pull away from the teeth. That is happening to me. I take 200mg of it a night. I have one tooth that might fall out at anytime because of my gums pulling away from it. I don't want that to happen to any more of my teeth. I hope there is a vitamin, mineral, or herb that can stop this. Trazadone has helped me a lot so I don't want to stop taking it. What can I do?

I doesn't actually cause gum erosion. I think it causes dry mouth which leads to gum erosion. Lack of saliva to keep the gums moist.

I'd talk to your doctor.

I know there are some artificial saliva products that come in sprays or rinses. There is also drugs that increase saliva flow...not sure of the effects when used with the other drug. There are a few option out there but you might want to talk to your doctor and a dentist about it.

The site below is all I could find. Why don't you talk to your dentist? You'll more than likely have to have oral surgery to build up your gums again. My mom had to have it done, but she wasn't taking Trazadone. Maybe your dentist can give you more information than the site below.

Is there anything else you can replace trazadone with? You shouldn't have to suffer! Talk to your prescriber. I dont know what you can do to prevent it, but if i were you, i would consider changing it.
