What about changing this to the top 20? Too many good cars go home because they are not in the top 35(New teams, Ect)

I think they should do away with it all together. If you show up at the track and you qualify in the top 42 you should race. Just because lets say Montoya failed to qualify, why should he get in over the teams who have less money that work their asses of to get in the race? I like championship provisionals , but only a limited number , maybe 5, after that if you cant qualify for the race , cya try again next week.

I totally agree with Niners Fan. If you show up, and qualify in the top 43, then you are in the show. If not, oh well, better luck next time. I really feel the top teams should not be guaranteed a spot. Then things might be different come Chase time!

Ok, the one flaw.

Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson have an engine failure. Jeff goes home because Jimmy gets the Past Champion Prov.

Or Jr blows a motor in qualifying, he will be sent home then.

How many of these driver's fans will be upset,, demanding a refund because their driver missed the race.

We as fans are not always crazy about the top 35, but more would be upset if their faviorite big name driver goes home.

I wouldn't put it at top 20. I would put it at top 30, so that all of the good teams are still in, and there are still 13 positions left for everyone else.

Better than that go back to the fastest 43 race and drop the BULL COOKIES giving free rides to the top 35 and provisionals.
Get back to honest racing and quailifing.

I would like to see them drop it but as stated above, how many of the Whination would be crying here if Jr. didn't make it? We will hear enough whining when he isn't in the chase.

I thinks just fine as it is. It rewards consistency for the current year. If your not in the top 35 then your not very consistent.
