Your teacher posed the question to you in a sneaky, misworded way. She should have asked, "Do you believe that global warming is human-caused, or do you believe it is a result of the earth's natural cycles?" Yes, the earth is warming, no it is not caused by man. The earth has gone through warming & cooling cycles for as long as it's been around. Global warming alarmists intentionally omit or misrepresent info to get their point across. For example, when citing the change in the earth's temperature, they merely cite the change in surface temperature. Yes, the earth has increased in temperature at the surface over the past few decades. This is, in part, due to the "urban heat island effect," which means that the increase in concrete/asphalt covered land that absorb heat, the increase in the # of buildings constructed that trap heat/ sunlight, the population increase & the # of heat emitting vehicles in metropolitan areas this century has caused the surface temperatures in cities to rise. Go outside the cities, & there is little no change in surface temp. Also keep in mind, that decades ago, weather stations were only located in rural areas, where as now, they are located smack in the middle of these "urban heat islands (cities)," so of course the recorded temps. now are going to be higher than in early decades. The rise in surface temperature, however, is not an accurate measure of the earth's overall temp. To get an accurate measurement, the change in surface temp. must be averaged with the change in atmospheric temperature. When these are averaged, we find that the overall change in the earth's temperature over the past century is less than 1 degree Celsius, and this is due to solar anomalies (in the case, increases in solar activity), not to human activities. Of all the greenhouses gases in the earth's atmosphere, 95% is water vapor & is naturally occuring. We cannot do anything about it. About 4.72% are due to biological processes (i.e. plant life, etc.), which we also can do nothing about. Only .28% of all greenhouse gases in the earth's atmosphere are due to human activity (farming, pollution, CFCs, etc.). Once again, global warming alarmists misrepresent the figures, citing that human activity is reponsible for 5.53% of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, a significant variation from .28%. The difference stems from the failure of global warming alarmists to take water vapor into account as the most prevalent greenhouse gas. They ignore it to amplify the impact of humans on global warming. It's grossly irresponsible. Why would they do this? Various agendas, whether it be to keep funding flowing to certain groups/ scientists, for political reasons (i.e. anti-capitalism, anti-population growth, increasing government control/ power, stifling U.S. economic growth, etc.), or simply for fame & a heroic image (i.e. Al Gore, hence the reason he doesn't practice a single thing he preaches regarding "green" living- he doesn't believe we're in the dire danger he claims). i suggest you check out the Oregon Petition (signatures of over 17,000 climatologists, meteorologists, atmospheric scientists, etc. who strongly disagree with the man-made global warming theories (see link under sources below), watch the "The Great Global Warming Swindle"(link below), & read The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (available at Amazon.com).

Oh, one more thing... Scientists have recently discovered that Mars is also undergoing global warming. Unless we missed something major over the years, Mars does not have too many SUV driving Martians. http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/mars_ice-age_031208.html

If you desire to obtain furnish cash for local weather study, do you suppose that you'll be able to get a cheque when you say," I want the furnish, as I suppose that I can end up that the figures that the present paradigm is centered upon are improper" ? The first-class environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. There remains to be no established causative hyperlink among the quantity of Co2 within the surroundings, and an develop in international temperatures. The WWWF pix of the polar bears swimming have been taken within the Arctic summer time; whilst the ice cap in part melts, as they could not rise up to photo within the iciness. The ice was once too thick! The East-Anglian uni study figures. "Oh! The figures do not fit our expectancies. Oh good. Keep quiet. Because we all know that we're proper." When the perception, and the religion is extra primary than squarely going through the reliable doubts of plenty of non furnish-supported scientists, technology has been superceded by way of devout zealots. As Oliver Cromwell colourfully mentioned." I pray thee, within the bowels of Christ, take into account that thou mayest be improper."

There were a couple of environmentalists who tried walking to the north pole in the early spring, but had to quit because it was too cold. They were trying to show the world the problems caused by global warming, but got frost bite, instead.

The question is not if there is global warming, the question should be, are we humans causing it?

The answer is NO. If we are causing global warming then tell me why Mars and Venus are both also warmer now as well? The answer is simple, the Sun--it affects all planets in our Solar System.

With advances in technology and energy efficiency and reduction of emissions we have experienced over the past 20 years, there was more damage to the environment being done over one hundred years ago. Global warming is the next bandwagon to jump on, in my opinion.

I know its real because I bought a cold drink yesterday and it got warm before I finished it. That proves it.

If it was real, why would you have to believe it? If it was real, it would just be.

Why should anyone have to believe in something? Or be judged for what they believe? Why not just present proof that it is?

No one ever believes the Sun will rise in the East. Anyone can prove this.

Global warming is happening - it's been directly measured. You can see it here:

There's some debate (almost entirely in the public) as to whether or not humans are causing it, but there's no question that global warming is happening.
