____ has always been (and will always be).

Atheists will insert the word 'matter.'

Theists will insert the word 'God.'

Are we really that different when we look at it that way? There comes a point when we must both simply profess our mind's limitation to explain the unexplainable.

agreed.

there comes a time when we can no longer "prove" anything.

god vs big bang are both forms of "faith" since neither can be proved yet.

matter can be detected. yes
god cannot be detected... so far

but where did matter come from?

I like the ones that can accept both ideas and combine the two.

Seems like the have the best ODDS of being correct

There are similarities & differences. Like you said atheists insert matter for God.
However (and a very important however) unlike theists, atheists believe that with the progress of science, in due course the unexplainable will also become explainable (and so many unexplained things have indeed been explained).
Most of the inventions/innovations in the last 200 years would appear like magic to someone born earlier.

No. Theists believe in a supernatural deity that ha always existed completely formed and then formed a fully developed human. Atheists believe there was energy which created matter at some point and it eventually evolved into life forms...which eventually evolved into this, that and the other thing, etc.

Atheists say FOR CERTAIN there is no God when they have no proof that there is no God.

Christians say FOR CERTAIN there is a God when they have no proof that there is a God.

I am willing to admit that I don't have proof of God and that it is almost impossible to explain. When you think about Christianity and God/Jesus it really is a bizarre concept. Believing without seeing. Blind faith. I understand why atheists think we are nuts. But that is OK because I just "KNOW" that God exists. I feel it in my soul. He tugs at my heart. I have peace knowing that this life is not the end.

So atheists are telling you that matter is going to send you to hell for eternity? And that Matter damns gays and tells us that we are fighting on Matter's side in every war against those who worship a different Matter?

Hmmm...

And pacerx, you might be interested in my question:

Are atheists too close-minded or too open-minded? They get accused of both, constantly.

You mean that inane trait we all have about having all the answers and having it all figured out?

Produces obnoxious condescension in both sides.

Kudos for a good question. Get out your asbestos BVD'S.
You're gonna get smoked by both sides.

atheist don't build their lives around any fixed piece of data. and being an atheist has no relation whatsoever with the beginning of the universe.

We only believe in one less god than they do. A wise man once said that when they can tell us why they don't believe in the gods of the Roman Pantheon, they'll realize why we don't believe in theirs.

You could put anything in the blank...but that would not make it seem to be the same thing. Sure, it's the same thing...but absolutely different.
