Wierd question. yuo need to call the social security office to see if your number is still assigned to you or if it was removed. They are the only ones that can give you that answer.

Students can only work a certain amount of time, on campus. Assuming you are following your visa limits, your SS number should be the same as it was, however, you want to make sure you are cleared for work.

As to what happens to the tax you pay, it depends on whether your country has a social security treaty with the US, in which case your benefits will be determined by the treaty.

Only one number is issued to one person, you cannot get another social security number.
If you have a legally issued social security number, it is on file, it still exists as your number, you will have the same number. You have the same number for all of your life.
Nobody is allowed to use that number except you, by federal law (doing so is a felony).
Take valid ID and birth certificate to the U.S. Social Security Administration and apply for a replacement card. It will be the number issued to you before.

You cannot switch your number.

First off, you never have to give your SSN to anything not federal but since we know that this doesn't seem to apply anymore just go to your local S.S. administration office with proof that you are you, I.D. and Birth certificate at around 1(less crowded) and they will tell you what you want to know, the interview doesnt end till you walk away or you do something stupid and the guard takes you away, so ask questions to your heart content.

Depending on how long ago it was there is a possibility you were given a S.S. number. If you were born here while your parents were here you are a US citizen by birth and you would have a S.S. number.

If your not sure you can call the S.S. office nearest you and they can look it up for you.
