“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.”

Stephen Roberts

So, besides the god of the Israelites, which other gods do you believe in? If you don't believe in any others, can you understand why others don't believe in yours?

I understand completely.
I would even go as far as saying that we are 99% atheistic.
Just takes the faith the size of a mustard seed for me to believe there is one God.

I'm a Christian. I have no problem with other people not sharing my religious beliefs. I have heard most of the reasons given by atheists for not believing, and that's their choice. In your definition of the term, then I am selectively atheistic about many beliefs (and agnostic about some others). However, the term "atheist", to me, denotes a complete and utter lack of belief in any deity whatsoever, and I do happen to believe in one. But to answer your question, your calling me 99% atheistic doesn't especially bother me.

You err by implying that an atheist "believes in" 0 gods and that a theist must believe in ALL gods or else is "partly atheistic".

Yet, believing in 1 God is, of course, 100% sufficient in order to correctly assert that a person is 100% theistic and 0% atheistic.

...and you know this, too...
You are just "fishing" for a catch.

...and so, too, shall I fish...

There is but one God - the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. There is no other God.

Can I "understand" why others don't believe in God?

Absolutely!

I used to be an atheist myself.

I'm right to the point: I believe, in fact, I am bloody certain, that no god ever existed, no not one. I feel no fear of an angry god who intends to dispatch me to hell because I think all religion is a crock, I feel no loss, no loneliness, no despair. I am one of the happiest and most content persons you could ever meet, I am a success in my chosen career, I have talents and financial rewards, I am the husband of one of the most beautiful women in America (so says People magazine), and I climbed the bloody mountain since a boyhood spent in profound poverty in the backward American South. I am 100% atheist.

I am not an Atheist.

The reason that I follow my god is because I know that he is real. I did not see his "face", but I did see an event which undeniably was an act of an intelligent higher power with a sense of humor acting in my life.

I do not deny the possibility of the existence of other deities. None of them have made themselves known to me, however.

BTW: I am Agnostic as to the existence of a Creator/Universe. There may be one but I am not sure that it takes an interest in our lives. I, also, do not think we will ever know for sure of its existence.

one of my best friends is a hindu and says that there is a debate as to whether or not hindus are simply monotheists also since their dieties are variations on the same force.

i believe in the one true God. other religions are taking a different approach to the same God.

for instance, i believe in the same God as the Muslims - only I dont believe in the quran.

You were not born an atheist:
Romans 1:20-22-20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools
