The only symptom I had with appendicitis was a sharp SEVERE pain in my right UPPER quadrant. I had no nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, aversion to dairy products, no local tenderness, a normal white-cell count and no fever. Diagnosis came with an exploratory abdominal surgery.
If you are dissatisfied with your diagnosis, find a different hospital.
Appendicitis, if inaccurately diagnosed can VERY quickly advance to the point of peritonitis and death.

I will add my 2 cents to the answers. There are several things that could be the problem.I had all those S/S and I had kidney stones. I had had my appendix out 15 yrs earlier and I knew it was stoned because of where it was going into my back and the vomiting etc. I was in ER and had an ultra sound and they saw them. Tell them you want an ultrasound or an MRI before they diagnose anything. You usually have a fever with appendicitis because it is an infection.,ulcers are in stomach region usually not right quadrant,so depending where the pain is will depend on what tests the MD will do.

A fever if often associated with appendicitis-which is nothing to fool around with. My husband has diverticlar disease, which can cause the same kind of pain as appendicitis and there can also be a fever if there is an infection.

I don't know all the answers to your questions, but I can tell you that when I had appendicitis, they originally misdiagnosed it as possible gall stones. They did an ultra sound and didn't find anything. Eventually (after being in a lot of pain) they did exploratory surgery and my appendix were hours from bursting.

yes you always have a fever with appendicitis, you also do not have back pain or stomach pain. with appendicitis you either have referred shoulder pain or lower right abdominal pain, and rarely nausea or vomiting.
appendicitis also does not result in occult blood in your stool, so if the doctor tested your stool for blood and it was positive, you likely have an ulcer.
