O.K. As to what is wrong, it's the exhaust manifold, I already pull the air conditioner, power steering pump and heat shield, went to get the replacement part, only to find that it's a dealer part only, so I J.B. welded the hairline crack am going to put it back together and hope the weld holds until new manifold arrives in a week!

You're talking big, complicated automotive words to me; Jack knows nothing about cars. Prayer:
"Oh Mighty FSM, please take mercy on this poor man and his machine; sprinkle your holy parmesan and bless his vehicular undertaking with success.
Let his problems with mobility be soothed by the noodly goodness that only thou canst bring, and if it please thee, let his transportation rise up from the edge of the grave, to serve yet another day, for it is written that the spirit of the Holy Fettuccini shall never leave man, and certainly shall never leave man stranded."
"For thine is the pasta, the sauce, and the garlic bread, forever"
rAmen!

Have you considered bartering for this? I like Quella Bella's answer. I bet there is probably some mechanic in the area that hates cooking...perhaps (s)he might be willing to trade fixing your car for some delicious meals!
Too bad she doesn't live near you!

you have a vast pool of experience here and you don't tell what the vehicle is doing?
what you have a a prayer car, pray it starts, pray it gets you there, pray it does this or that.......
many of the modern things are complex to work on, and you will need a mechanic. Some cars now, have to remove the tire to get to the battery, or pull the engine to change a hose.
hope you have something easy to work on. Love my older model vehicles, the 10 speed bike, lawn mower and such, easy to work on, and does not have all that electronic stuff.

Good luck! My radiator has been leaking and I bought some stuff to try and make it stop...but I can't figure out which shiny metal thing under the hood is the radiator. I'm not much of a mechanic myself.
