I breast fed my youngest until she self-weaned at 14 months. She began eating solids just before she turned 7 months old. By the time she was 9 months old she basically ate whatever we ate just either cut up small or mashed up. She also began drinking water from a cup about 9 months old. Even though she was still breast feeding, at 12 months we introduced whole cow's milk into her diet. A basic meal plan for her about 1 year old was begin the day with a nursing followed 1-2 hours later with cereal and fruit for breakfast. A mid-morning snack of whole wheat toast, cut up veggies like cucumbers and tomatoes, maybe some yogurt or a piece of string cheese with some water or milk tided her over until lunch. Lunch and dinner had some form or protein with pasta or rice or bread, with 2-3 veggies and milk in a sippy cup. After lunch, another nursing before nap time. Mid-afternoon snacks had fruit like banana slices or cut-up grapes or melon, crackers and water. After dinner, she might eat a light snack before a last nursing of the day and bed-time. When she began to wean herself, she gave up the early morning nursing first and wanted breakfast instead. Next to go was the mid-afternoon nap time nursing with the bed-time nursing the last to go.

In agreement with the above posters - you can also try applesauce, cut up grilled cheese, waffles and pasta.

Steamed vegs that have been well mashed. Potato & pumpkin are especially good & may be mashed together.
