I have heard mixed reviews on this. For the good aspects pulling your hair back at night keeps the oils in your hair and depending if you wash your hair at night, the daily dirt and grease that collects, off of your face. Especially when you are a teenager this can cause you to break out.
The negatives I have heard are that if it is to tight your hair can be pulled out. This doesn't stop me because although I feel like I loose a lot of hair I really don't. Try it for a little while and weigh the pros against the cons. In my opinion you can put it up at night .

It is bad to wear a ponytail any time!! It can cause breakage to the middle of your hair. Have frizzy hair?????? That's why!!I suggest you get a hair cut that you won't have to wear a pony tail. At night you can pull it back into a satin scarf that will be the best.

Yes and no. You'll have one of those annoying bumps once you take it out,and if you have your hair up in a ponytail all the time it can make your hair more brittle and susceptible to breakage
But if you just do it a few times, you really don't have anything to worry about

It can break your hair and give you a head ache if you use a tight band and it is a high pony tail. but it is cool if it is loose and with a soft scrunchy...not a band

It'll probably cause a little discomfort from where you lay on the scrunchie, it might cause hair to break/fall out, and you'll wake up with a mark in your hair where the scrunchie was. It'll add volume to your hair, but it's not worth it. Instead, try blow-drying your hair with your hair flipped over your face.

it's not very bad for you, but if your hair's in a ponytail really often then it could start to thin where the hairband is, and you might find you have to tilt your neck into awkward positions to get to sleep.
i recommend sleeping with your hair in a "wrap" - simply separate your hair into 2 halves, as if you were going to put it into low bunchees, then pin each bunch to your head using bobby pins - my hairdresser recommended this as it helps your hair's natural oils to reach your hair's ends, and it really works for me!

Not bad for you, but you may wake up with a big wave in the middle of your hair and if it's too tight maybe a kink in your neck or a headache.

Yes. It causes you to loose hair around your hair line. You will also loose hair if you use any rubber type items to hold the ponytail in place.

Not really, it's just if you can put up with it, and as long as you tie it with a non-snag band, and not an elastic one you should be fine. Although it does leave a kink in your hair, but if it doesn't bother you then OK.
