Males don't go into heat !
Neuter your male Lab. There are way too many Lab mixes in shelters all over the country. I'd say raise the fence or add a panel that leans IN to keep him inside. Or look at Coyote Rollers. Your dog could get hit by a car or shot or ......
And trying to get him to have sex with your spayed female is ridiculous !!! Your dog doesn't need to have sex. He needs training and exercise and discipline.
I recommend Cesar Millan's books, DVDs and shows. He sounds new age, but he has some great ideas. I'd also google Nothing In Life is Free and make sure you are spending enough time with your dogs.
Are they just living outside? Do you take them places? Do things with them? Bring them in the house?
Dogs are not lawn ornaments. They get bored and frustrated if they aren't kept busy. Esp. a hunting breed like a Labrador. Take him to Obedience classes at your local Obedience Training club....http://akc.org should have links for Obed. clubs.
There are ways to make your fence more secure. But it is better to also find out WHY the dog keeps trying to leave. If it is because of other females being in heat, get him fixed ASAP !!!
Stud dogs usually do not make good pets. So breeding him is NOT the answer. It would make him more prone to escaping, not less. Also if he bred the wrong dog he could get an STD....brucellosis is like dog VD.

Male dogs do not go into heat, he is wanting to roam because of other females in heat. You should get him neutered and that will curb that behavior. Dogs respond to the world differently than humans do, and getting him neutered is NOT cruel, but responsible and loving. Humans tend to think that they wouldn't want their testicles cut off, that would be awful, so they don't want to do it to their dog. However the un neutered dog develops alot of frustration and behavior problems that an neutered dog does not. Plus there is a huge risk of him developing testicular cancer that is greatly lowered by neutering. Neutering is an act of compassion toward your dog. If he is jumping out a six foot fence, then he is at a huge risk of becoming lost, injured, or worse. Curb that now before it is too late.

If your dog is a Male then he isn't in heat. Females only. Males only get the urge to mate when they smell the scent of a female in heat. The reason he's jumping the fence is because a female somewhere in the neighborhood is in heat and he can smell her. The only way to stop it is to neuter him, build a higher fence or chain him up.

this worked for me. Please don't think it is cruel. I live in an area that has many horses, and when my mid-sized dog started jumping my fence, my sister came over with an electric fence transformer and wiring and the plastic doohickeys to attach it to the fence. We installed the wire and the transformer and plugged it in. the next time my dog went to jump the fence, she brushed the wire and got a small shock. She came yipping to me and insisted I follow her so she could show me where the fence bit her. But she has never done it again. I don't even plug in the fence any more. We have since found that pet stores carry an electric fence dog version, which is easier to set up than the horse version (no need to ground it). Just remember to put up signs about the live wire if there is any chance a human might touch it.

Males do not come into heat.. Male dogs are always prepared.. He is leaving your yard to go after other girls in the neighbourhood, or just plain roaming because he is not neutered.
He is not going to ' get his rocks off ' with your spayed female, dogs don't work like that.. Likely the spayed female will give him a good bite in the face if he tries a stunt like that. He isn't going to want to breed her and you shouldn't try and make her be bred or allow him to breed her.. Leave the poor girl alone, and get your male neutered and forget about getting rocks off... He is more likely to stay at home too if you get him neutered..

Your male is not "in heat"...that is a female dog's equivalent to a menstrual cycle. If he is jumping the fence, it's because he smells a female in the neighborhood that is in heat. As for your female, since she is spayed, that is like a human woman's hysterectomy, so she basically has no sex drive. All trying to get your male dog to "get his rocks off with her" as you so eloquently put it, will do is get the 2 of them fighting. If you really want to be a responsible pet owner, get your male neutered. Then he'll stay in the yard.

Male dogs do not go into heat.
Female dogs go into heat if they are not fixed.
Male dogs seek out female dogs when the female dog is in heat. Your male will try to jump the fence whenever a female within a few miles goes into heat. Your male will not "get his rocks off" with your spayed female. :x Dogs don't have sex for recreation, so your male will not want to have sex with your female. And I find it disturbing that you want to use your female for this purpose. Is she his sex slave?
Neuter your male dog. Intact males can't help it, they are attracted to females in heat. You have to keep him safely confined or get him neutered.

I dont know of any spray, but generally the female has to be in heat too in order for him to want to do anything with her, or for her to let him. even if you sprayed her with some hormone and it worked you'd end up with a dog fight on your hands. I'm just guessing you dont want to get your lab fixed or you would have done so already. If you cant keep him in the fence, and dont want to chain him up, stick him in the house if you can, or look for someone that wants their dog bred and have him go make puppies. I dont know what else you could do.

Don't keep your dog outside unsupervised when the animal is in heat. You must keep the dog inside and walk it on a leash when you let it go potty. I am confused really on what animal is fixed and which one is not. You have to think about getting a privacy fence at eight feet. How long do you keep her outside alone?? Is she an outside dog?

Your male dog is in heat and you got a spayed female so he could get his rocks off with her?
Wow. Aren't you a great owner.
Your boy can't be in heat. Your boy is getting out to find females in heat. He will do anything he can to find them. He is not interested in the spayed female. He never will be. He will spend his entire life plotting, climbling, digging and clawing his way out of your yard until you get him neutered. He can't help it. It is his mission in life.
That's what unnuetered male dogs do. They search for females in heat.
So, either keep him in the house or neuter him.
Otherwise, be prepared to chase him. I'm sorry about him being hit by a car in the future.
