John Edwards wants Americans to give up their SUV's, and plans to ask them to do so when he becomes president.

What if they don't? Will he force them to give them up?

Will getting out of our SUV's in this country end global warming? If not, why do it?

Doesn't Edwards just give those wascally deniers another reason to claim global warming is a political, not scientific endeavor?

Why doesn't Edwards ever mention what he plans to give up?

Outlawing SUVs might improve the overall fuel economy of the auto fleet, or maybe all the former SUV owners would just get pig pickup trucks that got the same bad mileage.

Probably not. But buying a more fuel efficient car, assuming you don't actually need the size and power afforded by an SUV, is definitely a good thing. With gas prices the way they are right now, I can't imagine any sane person wanting to own one in the first place.

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions would just be a side benefit.

And I very much doubt anyone's ever going to force you to give up your SUV, although stricter emissions regulations may affect their manufacture in the future.

I'll give mine up when he gives up his private aircraft and SUV's as well.

He can also redistribute his wealth to the poor by bringing out his own checkbook and give it all away. Until he does this, he is a liar and a hypocrite.

I don't understand the blanket hate for SUVs. I have an SUV that gets better mileage than a lot of sedans and almost any sports car. Why isn't he asking people give up their mustangs, impalas, camaros, etc?

No, it's not the solution to global warming, but it will decrease terror funding, smog, traffic fatalitites, and many other negative impacts.

Should SUVs(heavy gas guzzling ones) be banned? NO
but they should be taxed more

SUV's are a big part of global warming until they run on alternative fuels.

A 4X4? Yeah. I'm sure they had to take THEIR message off-road!

And here he is again, waving..."SUCKAAAAS!"
