Adobe Photoshop 5.0..Shadowing help!!!?

How do u make shadowing on a colored picture i drew? like people say use the magic wand and I dont know how? I want to add cool lighting effects to it...but I dont know how?

First you need to save the Original by using the Save As and make a copy it. reneme it and noe you have 2 of the same one.
Now you must understand that you are using an advanced Photo Editing Software, even though you are using an older version.
You will have to expieriment with the different options.
The reason is there are several ways to do it and don't forget to save as in the format that you want to work with.
