I just dont understand. We're people taught that hate by parents? Did they pick it up in college? Does it depend on where you live? I dont get it.

Some people are taught by their parents to hate. Others have been victimized by people of a particular race and end up hating all of them. Still others have an anger in them that originated from something else (perhaps sexual abuse, etc) and they channel it into racial hatred.

There are no valid reasons... and the rest of this in no way excuses it... but have you heard of brain washing? I mean.. when I here 8 - 10 - 12 year olds talking about, well, horrible things... they didn't come up with that stuff on their own. I mean, at some point, they are exposed to the real world, and should be able to see that the way they were raised was not right... but until then, some of these kids are in closed communities being home schooled by racist parents, what chance do they have?

It's an instinct - forged in the ancient forests where anyone who looked different was potentially dangerous.

There are many such instincts, that once were useful but are now completely counterproductive to the modern world: the tendency to follow leaders blindly; road rage; sexual jealousy and more.

We're quite capable of overriding the drives, because we have brains. The big problem is that some people automatically assume that their bigoted instincts are more valid than the rationality - if they have any.
