I see no reason to be civil when you just called me narrow-minded and willfully blind. I think you are delusional and intentionally bigotted.

atheist

Wake them up from what? I am a Christian but I think atheists are in their right mind. Everone has their own way of dealing with situations in life. What makes you think religion is the only way? If so, try attacking the psychologists. Leave the atheists out. For some people, turning to Christ is a very painful experience that may cause detrimental damage to the person. Not everyone benefits from religion. There isn't just one way to solve a problem. Everyone is different.

If you want everyone acting the same, try going to the military.

Wow, same name and different views!

You're question is incomplete; It should read like this:

OK then. If religious believers and atheists are so narrow minded and willfully blind, what can be done to help them wake up?

This is the way to wake up:

Create Your Relationship with Our Creator
and have UnConditional Love and Peace in Your Life.

Yes, we atheists are certainly close-minded! I mean, christians have the open-mindedness to have faith that they are right, whereas atheists insist on always looking at the evidence. Just think how much more open-minded it is to believe on things OTHER than evidence, like faith! And of course, accepting God and Jesus while rejecting Allah and Buddha and Vishnu and Quetzalcoatl and Odin is VERY open-minded, especially when you do it on faith and fail to back it up with evidence! We atheists are just stuck in a rut of logic and rational thought when we could be experiencing all the wonders of irrationality and delusion that are associated with having blind faith in a totally arbitrary deity!

There are two paths that come to mind...

1. Experience the Power of the Holy Spirit... this usually will start an immediate transformation of the mind and heart, realizing that everything is possible through Jesus who is Christ. To put yourself in this position, either ask some Charismatic Christians to pray for you or engage in a genuine dialog (prayer) with God about your search for truth and your need for His self-revelation to you.

2. A Systematic Study of the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament. If an Atheist would committ to do such a study, while asking questions about areas that don't appear to make sense from mature practicing Christians, he/she would quickly learn that the Word of God is really the Work of God as seen in Human History.

Unfortunately being open minded and willing are pretty much pre-requisites for learning anything new... I think describing Atheists as being neither is inaccurate as a general rule of thumb (some may be). I would rather say that they are people in search of truth, but have limited their sources to the tangable and clearly logical writtings/experiences (mainly scientists, historians and personal experience). Christian faith cannot be undone by science because science is the study of rules and laws that God has put in place, science is a wonderful thing have. History is based on testimonies... the real question comes down to who's testimony do you believe, and why are some sources credible while others we may consider incredible or more accurately less credible? Christians besides the practical and logical, include the spiritual... thus not throwing out sources on the basis of miracles and what appear imposible in our limited experience (being open minded).

Just to help you along, I can give you a testimony about the healing of a broken leg in June of 2005. I prayed for a man with a broken leg, he had neither insurance or money because he was homeless. He came to church and asked for prayer... I did just that and he walked out of the building on his own two feet carrying the set of cruches he walked in with. I cannot explain scientifically how his bones and flesh were restored, but I can attest as can he that it was! This is an example of how God interacts with the world today in terms of miracles... one person at a time, meeting them where they are at and moving on their behalf out of love. Will you accept this testimony or simply disreguard it because it does not fit through the filters of a secular World View?

My mind is not narrow because I accept people for all their differences.I have no belief that says it is wrong to be gay or that my beliefs are better then someone else who has different beliefs.Since I do not have a belief that judges others, then I do not have a mind that has been made narrow.

I can see.I do not close my eyes when something appears that I do not agree with. But my sight also allows me to see that there are those within the religious community who seek to blindly follow their beliefs while systematically ignore and choose not to see or respect the beliefs of others.

I have awoke from the nightmare of religious intolerance.I have awoke from the shackles of religion and have embraced being awake to reality.

You know, I find this to be in a similar vein to "Liberals hate America." It's a sweeping statement with no real basis in fact.

How is it narrow minded of someone to be open to the possibility that maybe the Christian "God" is NOT the answer to everything? It is far more narrow minded to see only "god" and be willfully blind to everything else, including science.

You call this being civil? Calling people narrow-minded and willfully blind? Or do you wish to dish it out but not take it?

Your question involves a counter-factual conditional, namely "If Atheists are so . . ." Since the if clause is false, or at the very least in considerable dispute, the question is meaningless and cannot be answered.

I believe it's the other way around. Any atheist who is an atheist for good reason allows the evidence to dictate the outcome of their beliefs. They choose to do the work to find out why things happen, to ask the tough questions and be OK with not being right all of the time. Religious folk tend to use their mythologies to dictate what they will believe and ignore or manipulate any evidence that does not align with these mythologies.

We need to respect other peoples choices,we can't make anyone do anything they don't want to,All we can do is pray for them.If you try to push something on someone they will only run the other way, I have a heart for people that deny God,it saddens me,but theres nothing I can do about it,but pray, thats all any of us can do.

The reason the numbers of proclaimed Atheists is increasing is due to a wake up call.
