I Was Wondering.

MS Vista requires higher hardware specifications over MS XP. Games generally don't require any more memory for themselves but do take into account that the OS is going to use more of the hardware (i.e. memory). The only exception will be when DirectX 10 games start to show up and then you'll need MS Vista (unless MS allows DX10 to run on older versions of their OS...not likely though).

Yes. Vista has a problem with using extra RAM to trap applications. The benefit is that if an application goes rogue or has a bug, it does not impact other applications. The drawback is that the application takes a lot more memory. This issue has been well documented on technical web sites.

A program that takes 50 MB in XP can take up to 150 MP in Vista.

RAM is the most required component for Vista. Go with 2 GB and you should be fine. That said, all of my games run 5-20% slower on Vista.
