I bought some tamarind to make pad thai, i didn't notice the smell at first because it filled the store. I put it in my refrigerator for about an hour and when i opened the door it smelled pretty ripe... something like intense BO... so i threw it away immediately. my refrigerator still smells and somehow the smell got into the freezer which didn't have baking soda... it's been a few days since that incident and neither smells much better... i'm going to increase the amount of baking soda. an other suggestions that wouldn't contaminate my food?

in your frig place a small bowl of vinegar with a cotton ball in it, that will absorb the smell of anything.

Empty the fridge and wipe all surfaces with white vinegar and water then place a fresh box of baking soda and return the items to the fridge (this is a good time to toss out stale condiments and old foods as well). Hope this does the trick!
