Alex just think about it for a minute.

Roberto you might find this interesting but a co. is in the process of developing a helmet airbag system with micro processor control. The same co. is all so developing an air bag system targeted for the roadies, and a vest system for mountain bikers.

Because if you know how to ride, you can sense when the bike is going to fall, and you jump off and land on your feet.

Seat belts would drag you down with the bike.

And like the previous answerer said, bikes don't have seats, they have saddles.

People have been riding horses for 6000 years, and they have saddles without seatbelts.

The bike would NEED to have a Roll-Cage to protect your face from the weight of the upside-down bike.

Try Velcro pants and Velcro seat on a motorcycle; it's more realistic.

Because bike makers are waiting for air bags and ABS to become available before seat belts.... I think that will come just after DVD players are available at the handlebars, though...

Because that would make them unsafe and unridable. You need to move your body a lot on a ride, specially if you're riding on a mountain bike, and if you fall it's better to let the bike go than keeping in the bike.

Well a crash at speed you would want to get away from the bike, fall and slide, or fall with a 30+ pound bike with sharp objects and spinning sharp objects, seat belts are bad.

are you serious? do you realize this is Cycling, like Bicycling and not Motorcycles? (even though seatbelts on a motorcycles is just as moronic as they would be on a bicycle)

let's see, you fall over on a bike, and you can't get up because you are belted to it. simple enough answer Einstein?
