I mean actually beat them. Not spanking, but beating. Then the kids grow up thinking it is okay and the cycle continues. *sighs*

Because their parents abused them in that way and they think it is ok. A lot of time parents abuse children because they don't understand child development. They expect things from a small child that the child is not capable of. ie. A parent "whipping" a 2 year old for wetting their pants. Or expecting a 5 year old to do the laundry, etc. Or shaking a 4 month old baby because he/she won't stop crying.

I have never beat my kids but there were a few situations when my kids got out of controll and I thought, this is why people beat their kids." I think it is wrong and people who beat (not spank) their kids should be punished.

I think part of the problem is some parents don't have self control. Thank god I do.

you said it right there the cycle contintues if you don't know any better you think it is normal and that is what you are supposed to do. I do believe in spanking but I agree beating your children is horrible. i had a neighbor grwoing up that is father threw chairs at him. i was like 9 or 10 and did not tell my parents because i was scared but i feel guilty about it now. Why did he do that i can't tell you he felt he was doing the right thing

I don't think any decent parent would actually "beat" their kids. Spankings haven't killed any children yet, and with any parent, it's usually a last resort. I do more threatening than anything else.

If there are parents who are beating their children, call DHR, or Children and family services, and have them reported.

I think they are very unhappy people and need to control. Anyone who beats a child needs to have their head examined. It's a major problem. If you know of someone who does turn them in. It may be the only way they'll get the help they need.

Perhaps they were beaten when they were a child. It's one thing to spank but to BEAT is wrong.

Because they have poor anger management issues, poor parenting skills and are using prior abuse as an excuse to be a bad parent now.

Because they are pathetic excuses for human beings. Anyone that would beat a defenseless child is SICK!

i think that its totally wrong.i think parents do that because they are angry and dont know wat else to do or they think thats wats most effective.i once heard a story of a woman adopting a girl and then abused her by burning her hand on a stove as punishment and even for her own pleasure when she didnt do anything wrong.
