I'll give you one word: Power.
It's not about fault, it's more about who wants it, who's got it, who wants it MORE, who thinks they can take it...
Then the one word that follows Power that's used to keep the "flock" in order: Fear.
Such a shame.

U mean Besides our Government, Right??? I'm glad U only Listed "Religious Organizations" and Not Christians. This tells Us all that U can't (for whatever reason) separate "Religion" from "Christianity" ( don't feel bad, Ur just like many here) which are as far apart as the East from the West in Reality. But, U are Right! Christ said he would set even Family members against each other & it is still happening today! Ask Urself how U can have Both Light & Darkness Together??? U Can't!!! Christ is the "Light of the World", that many cannot See!!! Not sure what U mean by "Segregation" if U are in reference to anything "Racial" or just "Separated"??? As far as "Blame", well just continue to do like every Non-Christian does & put it off on God, He's got "Big Shoulders" & He's the one who "Separated "Good" from "Evil" in Heaven!!! John

You missed the spiritualists. I feel very left out, but being a good sport I'll answer anyway. You're right. Churches have always been very segregated, when they should have been setting an example for others. For the most part ,many churches are still segregated. A lot of the fundamentalists doctrine would indeed be alien to God.

God Bless you...
Luke 12:51-53
"51Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."
Jesus is saying once again that the gate is narrow. People will be divided over the Truth. Christianity is divided only because man is weak and cannot accept the Truth. Mainline churches have sold out in the name of political expediency, and many have forsaken the Bile almost completely.
Read the Scriptures. Stay away from any teaching or teacher that is not Biblically based. Galations 1:8-9 are pretty clear: "8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! ". That would include JW's, LDS, and soooo many others--even some mainline denominations like the ELCA Lutheran church.
It always goes back to the Bible and what you accept as truth. If you don't believe the Bible as your bedrock and foundation, then anything goes and you are lost. That is why there is division in the Christian church.

You missed 100s of them. The reason there are so many different ones is because each religion is picking out their favorite lines in the Bible, then not obeying the rest.
If there is a religion today that is obeying all of the Bible, I know not who it is.
Many use the King James Bible because King James ordered it to be made wrong. And is even more wrong because of the words meanings changing over the past 400 years. They can distort it to mean what they may make up.
It is important to read and follow it all. Try to get and stay on the "narrow path to heaven".

Those are man made religions. Man made rules & regulations on how to worship God. Religion is pious, judgemental and self serving. You can be very religious and not be a christian.
Please don't forget that because there are a lot of religious people on here that claim to be christians to do a great injustice to Christ by the way they answer questions. It gives us all a bad name.
Christianity comes down to this: a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Christianity is simple - it is accepting Christ into your life and living according to his teachings and commands of love God with everything you have and love your neighbor. Christians don't go by man made rules - only Christ's rules. I wish people would stop clumping all those religions together and calling them christianity. You will know a true christian as someone who walks their talk and you will know a true Christian by their love.

Everyone of them. We should be Christians as a whole not by denomination. Each group has an interpretation of the bible and certain aspects of Christian beliefs. That is the main obstacle being faced today. Some believe they are right and the only ones going to heaven.

To answer your biased question we would have to agree with the assertion that "Christianity [is]... the most segregated and divisive institution is America". Since that is a ridiculous assertion, clearly it isn't, then your whole question loses it's validity.

As a former Christian and now a Soto Zen Buddhist, I always find this interesting.
In Buddhism, we have so many different sects too. But that's just "many cures for many illnesses". We seem to live together far more (but not perfectly) harmoniously.
Is it because Theism is ego-based ?

I think that it is the inherent belief that their belief is right, and other Christians who have a different interpretation are incorrect and hence sinning.
I remember going to a national competition for the christian school I went to, my teachers were amazed that the other christians there were actually "real" christians.

You haven't been near Congress lately have you? Obviously you have an axe to grind and aren't interested in facts but there are many institutions within America that are far more segregated and divisive.
