I think it may have to do with how you are when you leave this world, or dimension. If you are content or happy, you may go straight to "Heaven". If you have unfinished business, or have lead a tortured life, I'm not sure what the path is. If there is a path, or if there is a Heaven. Nobody really knows. I wish someone did.

After death the soul and body are separated. The soul goes to either paradise or spirit prison. In paradise we have rest from the cares of the world. Spirit prison as described by Peter is where the Savior went between death and his resurrection. He opened it that the souls there could be taught the Gospel and repent.
After a period of time our bodies will be resurrected and reunited with our spirits. We will be judged and given a place according to our works and the desires of our hearts. There are three degrees of glory according to Paul in Corinthians.

Most of us will probably go to Purgatory to be cleaned of the stains of our sins. Then Heaven.
How can we be happy looking down? We will finally understand God's plan, and be secure in that knowledge. Sometimes I'm like that now - accepting God's will makes the bumps a little less bumpy.

to answer you question, yes, but its not to stay if you didnt live right. you are going to be judged by God and if you lived a holy life and lived by the word of God you will stay but if you didnt live right and you went against Gods word you will go to an eternal damnation which is hell. so give you life to God so you can life happy. when you go to heaven you dont look down on this earth. when you get there you mind will not be on this earth it will be on thanking God for accepting you. you will be a total new person.

all are asleep until the day of judgment...read your Bible sweetie..
we are asleep and our next waking moment is with the Lord....
to be absent from the body it to be present with the Lord....there is no concept of time....it can be 200 years, 200 years, 2 weeks....when ever the day of judgment is..that is the wake up day...

Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Do THEY look dead to you?...smile

Why do we need to praise and worship God? That makes him pretty arrogant in my book.
Guess I'm not going to heaven then, I'll just happily decay into worm food.
